Hi everyone, new to the community! Sorry if this is TMI but here's where I'm coming from as a 43yr old male:

After rumors my favorite softcore model would possibly start doing hardcore content I started seeing a counselor because I wasn't able to sleep due to intense anxiety. In the time I've spoken with him I've had to disclose a lot of personal habits and lifestyle secrets that I've never really talked about with anyone. I've since shared almost all of it with my two closest friends to have them assist with my road to... wherever I end up.

I came to realize that I wasn't in control of my life or emotional well-being when it came to my intense compulsions and habits to seek out, download, sort, and categorize the seemingly unlimited amounts of porn available. I had a porn collection in excess of 20 TB that I've since pared down to less than 2TB. I've removed all extra storage devices to set a hard limit what can be kept and threw out all forms of physical pornography from my apartment.

I still deal with the habits and mental excuses to relapse into collecting and I've reached some really dark places when sleep comes hard. My stated goal in counseling was to get rid of all my porn and take steps into establishing a normal relationship again but I'm stuck between several mentally insurmountable decisions that have me on a plateau.

I hope I can find some solid advice and support here to continue the path toward wellness.

very well said, and welcome to the site!

Thank you for being so honest. Though i'm struggling right now, the times when i have gone long durations without PMO i stood by two key principles:

    1) one day at a time. because a new lifestyle of not watching porn after being addicted for so long can be overwhelming and daunting. strive to improve today above any other day.

    2) fight the initial thought. we have to watch our brains like a hawk. that little thought that comes by we can't condone otherwise it will inevitably grow into the big ugly urge that we as addicts simply can't ignore.

have fun, enjoy life, smell the roses and welcome to the community!
