YOU’RE DELUDING YOURSELVES – Recovery is not always possible!

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Depressed&Out, Jul 2, 2019.

  1. Let me get this straight :

    You can’t get a boner....
    And it’s our fault ?
    4 giving you hope ?

Did you know porn keeps you impatient ?

It takes 34.5 weeks on average to rejuvenate the gray brain matter.

    You are complaining after 4...

You don't have to be such a negative nancy... Just because people should have realistic ambitions doesn't mean you need to play devil's advocate and tell everyone to give up hope.

Look man, you can cure almost any disease by changing your lifestyle and self improvement. The truth is Nofap alone is useless in a battle to defeat PIED. Sure, nofap has many positive benefits, but if you do only Nofap and continue living shitty lifestyle, nothing will change in any direction. The PIED, or let's say ED, should not be 100% blamed on porn, since it also depends on how you live daily. Ditching porn and taking on nofap is the first best step to do. Next steps are changing your lifestyle. Most ED patients eat unhealthy, live sedentary life, smoke, drink, you name it… Diabetes, hypertension, slouching around all day and smoking are the common causes of ED. Adding PMO to that makes it even worse. Also ED didn't come overnight, so you can't expect to recover in few months. Exercise is, along nofap the most powerful tool in fighting ED. Personally, last year when I was a regular fapper, i suffered from some sorth of ED. Back then, I was PMO-ing semi errect because I couldn't even maintain an erection. Nowadays things are different, just stick to nofap, eat healthy, eliminate sugar, lower salts, stop being a couch potato, exercise (HIIT is the best for this, also weightlifting for improving testosterone levels is the key factor), increase your time offline, establish sleeping routine, get at least 9 hrs of sleep nightly. Doing this will help you, as it helped me already. I still have a problem with smoking (pack a day :S), but I'm near "rock solid". Best of luck :)

If you ever find a way to give up smoking let me know. That's actually why I'm here. I figured if I give up some of my lesser bad habits I could tackle the big ones, like smoking. Not to downplay porn by any means.

  5. My friend said he gave up drinking and his interest in porn dropped to zero. So it just might work.

    Best wishes to you!!!!!

Calm down, it's not the end of the world. Give yourself time to recover. Brain scans have shown addicted brain needs 6-11 months to physically recover from substance abuse or long lasting compulsive addictive behavior. If you see no improvement on PIED front after a year, visit urologist. But you should be physically OK as long as you're getting solid morning woods.

I had solid morning woods during my binge PMO days if I didn't totally overdo it, yet I had problems with erections with real partner. You need mental and physical health to perform right. Brain gets used to being aroused by P over time and live sex becomes uninteresting. That's what happen to me and was part of the reason for separation.

this means that your pmo case was not serious. there are more serious cases of pmo in which the morning wood is not there for months

My D was dead from nearly 2 decades of compulsive hours long lasting daily binge PMO sessions. I can't imagine much worse case.

  11. It's funny you say that your smoking addiction might be intertwined with your porn addiction. I'm starting to get a feeling that my caffeine addiction is intertwined with my PMO addiction. Like it's weird, on days I would consume more caffeine than usual I would have more intense PMO urges and on days where I don't consume as much the urges aren't as intense. But i would argue, porn is by far a worse addiction.

Yeah, I have a whole bunch of habits I've been chipping away at for a couple years. It always seems like if you quit one you'll overcompensate with another. Like if I quit smoking I'll find myself drinking a whole pot of coffee and binging on porn. Sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm actually making progress.

    Maybe you are right.
I believe that there are diferent levels of PIED porn-induced.

I think that it will be more hard to cure as more escalation you did; Or how much you jerked off in the past.

Prone mastubators are others that have to make a hard way because of the common desensibilization observed by the friction.

But this doesn't mean also that NoFap is useless, because I never figured out how raising testosterone levels by semen retention could turn my life from a "auto thinker that I a loser" to "I Have the rights and the tools to be happy NOW".

Why are people so obsessed with time line of recovery? Does it really matter? If you chose to give up porn (in my case also masturbation) for good it's quite meaningless to have expectation when full PIED recovery might occur. I really don't care if it takes 1,2,3 or more years. I know I'm better off then 6 months ago, when my D was literally dead. That's all I need to know. It would be silly to expect 3 or 6 months of monk mode will be enough to fully recover after decades of compulsive PMO behavior. Even if it takes 5 years to fully recover, it would still be better then another 5 years of compulsive jerk off, don't you think?

Total and utter BS. I was able to recover from SEVERE ED (I couldn't even get a boner over porn) to getting a rock hard dick over fantasy in about 80 days hard mode. I don't need statistics, I know it works first hand. I also know that if you fall back into porn and masterbation you can get ED again which is what has happened to me.

Not to mention that I was unhealthy as fuck and taking drugs at the time. Shit works! The best sign that it's working is a flatline. Now STFU and stop disheartening and misinforming folk. Good night.
