Retrying after relapsing is really hard...

    Hey guys.

After my 74 days streak (best one so far) I relapsed to porn and then I went on a 6 days streak and then for 12 days. Last one was 4 days and now I'm back at binging.

I really thought I was done with this but it seems like relapsing is always a possibility and we must be vigilant about it.

Long story short, it's been over a month and I still can't go on a long streak. I can't even remember what made me go on such a long streak in the first place.

And though I am not addicted to Internet or anything, I need to access it for a short period of time each day for work. And the urge to watch porn is always too strong.

Anyway, I am going to figure it out sooner or later. The point of this thread is actually what the title says; that relapsing is not harmful only in the sense that you release all that dopamine and you waste all that sperm. But that it may keep you for a very long while to get back on trying to abstain.

Damn, I can't believe it's been over a month since I failed and I keep failing.

one of the reasons why this happens is because we are so stubborn about having x days since we masturbated, we should rather develop a mindest where the ratio is more important

I've been having this thought for a while now. But hearing the same from another person makes it even more clear and persuading.

You're right. It seems like we measure progress according to streak and we conclude we lose all progress when we relapse. That is not only false; it's insane! And I feel naive that I fell for it.

Because this is exactly what happens. You relapse, you think you reset any progress, and therefore persuade yourself that there's no problem delaying your efforts. This is such a lie because you don't delay your efforts. You gradually reset your progress...

Can you remember how good you felt during your streak of no-PMO? I'm guessing you felt better and realized benefits; that's your motivator for the future. Acknowledge the slip up, take steps to avoid the same mistake, and move on. You can do it!!

Thank you, man. Yes, I remember all this energy I had that motivated me to do beautiful things.

Yes we shouldn't think "oh well I relapsed, might as well masturbate for the rest of the month"

Took me months to get back into the swing of things after a 189 day streak. Couldn’t last 4-7 days without MO. Today I think is day 11 or 12 for me but I’m not keeping too much focus on the number this time around. Just the goal to never masturbate again. It’s tough but already feeling great.

Overall, I went from fapping and losing my sperm almost everyday for over 30 years to only 1 or 2 times a week. And only at night. Pretty good overall progress.

I try not to think about my nodal goals when temptation arises and carry on with wherever I’m doing. So far so good!

Thank you for sharing that, dude. I appreciate it. It must be even more crushing to get addicted to the stuff after such a long streak. I need to take things slow and concentrate to at least not do it today.

Try not to look at no PMO as a challenge but rather as a path to recovery. I imagine myself hiking towards the mountain top. I might stumble or even fall, but as long as I keep walking, I'll reach the top. Steven Adler once said: "Part of recovery is relapse. I dust myself off and move forward again." That's the right mentality we should follow.

It is but I’ve learned that it’s best to take it one temptation at a time. And during each temptation episode, I keep in mind that I truly don’t want to M. If I get a bit of an erection, then I just enjoy the sensation don’t touch, and go on with whatever I’m doing. It takes a lot of practice, fails, and sweat but it builds you up into a stronger man along the way. You can do it!

we're all failures, it's the trying to be successful part that matters. Don't give up

I don't think that never masturbating again is good, at least if you don't have sex. I will make a post about this soon

Interesting. I am not persuaded about this as I haven't been presented with good arguments yet. More often than not, it's about prostate cancer. If it's not, I would be interested to read your post. Please, PM me or link it here!
