My two cents on succeeding in recovery.

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jul 5, 2019.

  1. My reason of staying PMO free for 590 days in my last streak wasn’t because of a guide i followed by just one person. But how I succeeded was learning from the mistakes and successes from others. I use small knowledge from others that I can use and keep doing the same til this day. Researching. Observing. And learning from others mistakes and ways they realized and overcome those issues is something that has helped me tremendously.

Now here’s the question how do we become porn free.? Well that’s something that can be tricky to come to realization. Now my solution from my experience was fixing my mental and eviromental issues that I was experiencing at the time. Now this is different for everyone, some have it much more harder than others but it all comes down to the same issue why do we have trouble with constantly needing to pmo? Well the answer to this question is what’s actually making you want to watch porn? Do u feel lonely? Do u feel like ur not good enough? What’s the issues behind your coping use of a bad addictive habit. The deeper you are the much more harder it is in letting go of a habit but everything is possible and there’s thousands of people who are porn free to prove it. Now maybe focusing on the actually issues and working on resolving them will allow you guys to come to realization of the issues that make u want to give in to something you know isn’t good for you, if u are an addict. Being honest and confronting the issues are the best ways possible in overcoming the issue rather than the issue overcoming you. There’s so much more to nofap than just not pmoing, you gotta put in the mental and physical effort in pushing yourself to become the greatest person you can be, and the tough thing is that it’s gonna be hard because succeeding isn’t easy it’s that it’s worth it. This is coming from my experience and hope this can help you guys :)

Totally agree. Focusing on making your life, your body and your mind better has WAY more impact than only thinking about not PMO-ing. Also, the thing that I see most around here is learned helplessness: Most people keep on failing because they keep doing the same thing. If they don't "fix" the thought patterns of WANTING pmo, if only 1% of you want PMO, you can do whatever you want cause it WON'T work. If you believe that you ARE an addict instead of someone WITH a addiction, it also won't work. If you believe you gonna fail, BAM: you will. If you believe relapse is a failure instead of a learning opportunity, you are lost.

If you're into that stuff, try reading "Awaken the Giant" by Tony Robbins. That book literally changed my life, it guides you in all mental game: thoughts, beliefs, values, identity, neuro conditioning, metaphors, changing mind states... you name it! It is pure gold! Give it a try, you won't regret it. I'm almost finishing it after 3 months meditating and applying it thoroughly while reading.

  4. Exactly, recovery isn’t about just removing one habit it’s about confronting and overcoming mental/psychical/and enviromental struggles, and to break bad habits in order to grow and to become stronger so we don’t go back to those habits again especially the addictive habit of pmo.
