I haven't been on social media in a while, uninstalled Twitter and Instagram months ago while I'm still trying to successfully reboot. But today, I decided to go on Instagram just to accept some follow requests that have been stacking up over the last few months (but I feel that was just an excuse I told myself because sexual energy has been high recently). I didn't install the app again, just went on the website, logged in, accepted my follow requests. Didn't lurk for too long, but I did see a couple pictures for just a couple seconds and got a little aroused. Got a slight urge to fap afterward as well. I've come to the conclusion obviously that this isn't the best move for me, and I DON'T intend on going back on Instagram at all. But is the slight sexual intoxication I received from this temporary exploration going to be problematic? Or should I just continue on with my streak and assume all is well since it was so quick and over with?

For me it is. I need a clean break from that stuff. Absolutely "no peaking" is a sound strategy to maintain a streak. Once you start to peak and compromise, you begin to lose a sober mindset.

  3. You can continue with your streak. Just be careful next time.

Man, I see it differently. The fact that you can accept your requests on Instagram, then uninstall it after a few seconds, shows me you have very high discipline in that regard. So I respect you for that. Well done. Another thing is the fact that you haven't used such addictive apps for such a long time! 99% of people here struggle with even deleting it for a few days.

Regarding those pictures, you should ask yourself if you looked voluntarily or accidentally. What it an accident? So what! That's not nearly a relapse. I once accidentally saw something erotic on Facebook. I deleted this contact from my list. So you could say it only made you more resistant to it. So I recommend either not looking at it again or just unfollow them. I hope this helped you.

Try to regulate Instagram. I always delete my app if I feel I didn’t regulate well enough. I have a separate account with all my triggers but even then you must be ready for triggers on your main. Instagram is not that bad. Every time I’ve gone back though it’s been real rough controlling the urges. I recommend deleting all social media for a week or two and returning after just to test your resolve and experience what it’s like without it. Good luck brother!

  7. Delete IG completely and do not go back. It is a cesspool. That is what I have had to do in order to stay free.

It can become a version of 'acceptable edging' so best to steer clear.
