Every time I try nofap I relapse at the 3 day mark I have watched countless videos and read many forums on how to help prevent this. Some tips for day one would be great. I also want an honest answer to as if I will feel the the urge to relapse for the rest of my life or if things will get better.

    Thank you

  2. Honestly, the only thing that has worked for me is working with a good psychologist.
There is no way sheer willpower can help most people, although without some it is going to be worse.
Finally, you may need to be a bit angry about this little son of a bitch in your mind that wants you to jerk off to porn. Shame him. Imagine he is the biggest loser you have ever met and you can't wait to punch his face in. Get that damn folding chair and let him have it. Never be passive or wimpy with this addiction or you'll constantly be starting again. You can do it! Keep us informed of your progress.

I fucking did it again. This site is my only tool in this but its a hell of a lot better than what I had before (which is nothing). I really appreciate the reply btw. I will now be starting from day 0 again. Your advice really helped me in these 2 days and I was perfectly solid until I felt tempted.

You have to stop thinking about your want to do it again. Cut every thought from the beginning. Do not look at or do anything that will reactivate that want. Also, try to fill your day with stuff that you actually want to do. Things that will move you toward your goals. If you just do not do anything you will feel bored and you will want to relapse again. Finally, whenever you need to fight it fight it, and try to do all what you got in order to succeed.

You got bro, don't give up.

  6. Good for you on being here. I too have had streaks of 3-4 days with a relapse. I’ve made it as far as 12 or 13 days tho. Find a good Accountability partner. Someone who you would be ashamed to let down. Even if it’s an anonymous stranger on this forum.

When thoughts and urges enter your mind, stand up. Walk around. Get away from your phone. Say NO out loud. Hum a tune (that seriously works for me, must get my mind off the urge). Read a book. Balance your checkbook. Do some pushups. But DONT let the thought fester.

Your body around day three just wants the dopamine. You don’t need the “release”, it’s the addiction seeking its fix. Beat it. Your stronger than that. Deprive that addiction. Make the addiction hurt as much as the addiction has hurt you.

  7. Your brain and body conspired to train you, so to speak, to think you need PMO.
Okay, so now you have to train your brain and body to say, "No, I am not a PMO guy at all. I am not that kind of person."
Journal writing definitely assists, but it is not the solution.
Will power is great, but it is not the solution either.
If you are serious, you must get help. Face to face help. This takes courage, but once you do it you will feel great relief.
I am doing that, and it is the best thing for me.
But at the end of the day, like, even as I write this, I feel tempted.
It is difficult for everyone, but you know who you want to be and you know who you do not want to be.
Courage, brother. Get focused and get real help.

Today is my first day here, saw this thing about porn addiction and the effect it has and the benefits of quitting yesterday on the Joe rogan podcast and after some deep thought, research and realizing how addicted I was I found myself here. Today has been different trying to find ways to occupy my mind but I have a lot of hope, so don't worry you're not alone. The journey if 1000 miles begins with the first step
