Are Fetishes/Kinks ever really "Porn Induced?"

I joined this site almost a year ago and with not much porgress. I havent even made it a week. I have a sort of problem with my fetishes.

I made a post before about it when I first came here and I was in distress mainly with OCD issues. But now in recent times, I somewhat found peace with this "fetish" and thankfully it's nothing illegal, but in some terms I still think I'm better off without it.

I've tried looking for absolute proof that these fetishes truly go away, but so far I've found that either answer is "Yes" "Maybe, but not entirely" or worst "no". And I'm really confused as what the true answer is.

Yes I've looked at YBOP posts, yes I have learned about Brain Rewiring and the Cooldige Effect. I just need some straight answers from any of the users here, do they truly go away, does me feeling more comfortable proof that this "kink" is natural??

  2. I had a few kinks before i knew porn was a thing, so Im going to have to answer this based on just going on that. Maybe you viewed something and noticed it had an affect, so you unearthed a new kink you didn't realize you had.
When i was younger, i fantasized about some of what i thought was really unusual, but now know quite a lot of people enjoy it too.

The thing is I don't know for sure. But granted I barely even had a week without porn so I'm not rewiring my brain in the healthy amount of ways. It's just the matter of being comfortable with myself. I'm aroused by some things that are very ill, something that I would never dream of doing IRL. I'm just in a state of confusion.

Don't focus on whether or not your fetish will disappear. At the end of the day you will only find that out by doing NoFap for an extended amount of time.

The farthest I've ever gone was 5 weeks. My fetish still existed, but sexual thoughts became more diverse. My fetish didn't lead the charge if that makes sense. When I relapsed it wasn't to any fetish material. Since then my fetish had been in full swing.

As far as porn creating fetishes it is absolutely possible. There are things that people never fantasized about before watching porn. That being said I can't say whether your fetish (whatever it may be) came from porn or not. All I can say is that you should give up PMO for a while and recover. Good luck

I have had a spanking fetish since I was 12. I am 50 now,the internet didn't exist when I was 12. While laying in bed at 12 I thought of an incident of me being beaten by a female teacher (nun) and it excited me. By 18 I discovered magazines,VHS tapes for my fetish,by 19 I discovered Dominatrix's. Mid 20's dial up internet was in play and it most likely made it worse for me. I just told the Dom I go to I'm done for awhile in attempt to control myself. It was difficult I have known her over 7 years and care for her.

Talking about the first line: you haven't seen any progress because you never passed a week, not the opposite. Don't want to sound hard but is all your fault.

I know for a fact my first kink came from non-pornographic entertainment when I was young. Why it became sexualised I don’t know, but in a broader sense my taste in fetishes was indicative of my worst fears in school. Porn did not start my fetishes but it definitely fed them amply.

  9. Human sexuality is HUGE and all those kinks and fetishes are not always porn induced, I dont believe it one single bit.
If you look back in history, to the times before porn, oh oh oh... there was so much stuff going on you would be surprised :)

  10. I think a lot of 'fetishes' can manifest themselves in early childhood but without a proper hormone balance and being underdeveloped as a human being we wont act on them or understand them until we grow older and start to explore sexuality. With regards to porn being a driving force, i can say that i discovered things online that i had never even remotely considered when i was growing up and still at school. Porn is a supranormal stimulus as Gary Wilson from 'Your Brain on Porn' puts it.

Just the sheer volume of content out there, the ease of access and the way it is instantaneously delivered can put our brains into overdrive. 30 years ago you might have been able to obtain a collection of videos and magazines but you would have to quit when you got through all the magazines and tapes until you purchased your next few. Back then it was time consuming and costly. Today it's different, you can happily browse for hours and hours and hours and still find content you have never seen before. This is the coolidge effect.

When we edge for hours on end, we over stimulate the dopamine neural receptors. The content is fleeting in its appeal so we move on to the next one and the next one to 'chase' this feeling of being in a kind of zombie like high, The chances that we may develop new kinks and fetishes whilst we are in this heightened state is quite high indeed.

Did you know that when we are high or aroused we inhibit the pre-frontal cortex in our brains because our brain thinks that what we are getting is good so we no longer need to really 'think or plan' about how we are getting it. The pre-frontal cortex is responsible for judgement and decision making. It's that voice in your head that says 'hmmm, maybe that's not a good idea'

So, my take on it is. Yes fetishes can be developed early on without the need for porn, but porn acts as a further cataylst, much like putting Nos in a fuel tank of a car.

So, In my case, grip of fetish on me looses with Nofap. (NoPMO)
Also, In my case, I had one before Porn and 3 or 4 were induced by porn.
Again, speaking from a very personal viewpoint, NoPMO de-intensifies Acquired fetishes but do they get removed fully .... No...
But are they "Natural" and"ok"... Might be natural but "ok"...they are "NOT" ..
Also a "Relapse" "intensify up to 4 times" in my case..
    Overall better with "NoPMO"...

  12. There's things i know i still like that will always have a certain appeal to me, for example, certain kinds of clothing. However today i 'choose' not to act on it. That doesn't mean the appeal goes away, i just have a lot more control over my sexual energy. In the past i wasn't in control as i let porn become an overbearing and powerful driver and now i no longer view any kind of porn it's power has no effect on me.

I've learned over 4 years of abstinence that we can gain a very fine tuned element of control through effort and practice, until we no longer need to really think about it.

We can't always choose the things that happen to us or the things we see but we can make a choice whether to act on it and that's the difference, i have the freedom of choice again whereas before it felt like i had little choice.
