unidentifiable condition i have

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Jul 30, 2019.

  1. So i have had legs pains every since i was like 13, i think they could be growing pains but i am still getting them and i am almost 21. So basically atleast 2-3 days out of the month, maybe every other month sometimes i get this awful pain in my thighs, usually starts on one side and could later start up in the other leg to, i always know when the pains are starting to, it slowly builds up and becomes painful, when its really acting up i cannot sit or stay still, any type of strain makes the pain 10x worse, like crapping or something. It feels like my legs are ripping apart from the insides, usually in the middle of my outer thigh, sometimes it will move up into my lower back and cause me pain, but that is more rare. I used to get them so bad that i would miss school for like a whole week, i would have to walk circles around my room for hours because i could not sit or if i stopped the pain would hurt worse, on a scale of 1-10 i would say at there worst they can easily become an 10, taking pain meds will make them go away for a while luckily, but i would like to know what i have?, i was having them today so that is why i thought of it.

  3. I'm sorry for your pain, Kegger. I hope you find a way to deal with or eliminate it.

Don't you think you should be asking this question of a medical professional? I gather that you're on base now. Can't you ask to see a doctor there? I doubt that there's anyone on this site qualified to help you. Certainly no trustworthy diagnosis can be given through this format. Ask for help from people who have the skills to help you, my friend. Don't keep on suffering for no reason.

  4. i went to the doctor once and they told me its from not stretching before riding my bike, i have not rode a bike in years, i would go here but the results would be the same, also i dont want to get hit with like fraudulent enlistment or something because i never mentioned it before, tho i doubt they would but still not worth it.

  5. no i do not believe so, i might have feet problems however, both my sister and dad have short hamstrings and my dad has one foot shorter than the other, i have an issue where when i am walking i cant go straight easily, like i always end up walking into people beside me, especially when marching, i just feel like my legs are all screwed up everywhere.

From what I understand you may have either a structural or anatomical issue. Structural you may be able to fix by stretching and so forth, anatomical means like one bone might actually be shorter on one side. In any case it would take a detailed exam. Personally I would look for a specialist and pay out of pocket if I had to.

  7. hmm i see, when i actually get to the fleet i will get that checked out, and if they dont help i will go to a specialist.

  8. Maybe restless leg syndrome? Definitely seek a doctors opinion.

That's the issue. If you go to a doctor, remember that the doctor isn't psychic! ;) They can't immediately know what your problem is. So they have to figure it out. The first thing is that most problems are small, obvious issues, that go away over time. So usually that's what'll happen if you just visit a doctor and complain of a problem. They'll suggest a simple explanation, and send you home. It's your job to then go back and give them more details/ask for more tests, if they're wrong.

If you come to a doctor with a runny nose and a fever, they'll first of all assume you have a cold, and maybe send you home with some basic medicine for that. That doesn't mean they're a bad doctor, or that they missed your problem, it's just that's all the runny nose and fever suggested to them.

If after weeks the runny nose and fever haven't gone away, or you've developed new symptoms, you go back to the doctor, and explain, and add more detail. Then they can run other tests, and try other solutions.

The only time going to the doctor once will figure out what your problem is, is if it's super obvious, or if you go to the doctor for a very specific test that happens to catch your issue. Otherwise it might take a few visits, and some tests, to figure it out.

So go back again. Explain that you haven't been running, and that the problem persists. Mention how movement reduces the pain. Mention how straining like when you're using the bathroom causes it to hurt. Mention how it spreads to your back. That's all useful info. Mention how it feels unbearable if you sit down. Ask them if they can run some tests.

There are lots of things it could be, and only by a process of elimination and running various tests will a doctor be able to give you an answer.

My first instinct is that it could be a disc or a nerve issue in your lower back, since that area also affects your legs, and often lower back issues can disguise themselves and appear as just leg issues. The fact that you mentioned it sometimes spreads to your back, and that it improves with exercise, is even more suggestive of that.

I'm not a doctor though, so, see the doctor again, or a different one. If you see a different one, mention what the previous doctor said, and mention all the things you said in this thread. Give as many details as possible.

  10. thank you for the response, i am going to write all my symptoms down and find a good respected doctor to go to. Just because i had 1 shitty doctor does not mean they all will be i realize.

This is definitely a growth-related ailment, seeing that it started since you entered around the age of rapid development (i.e. 13 / puberty).

I'm no doctor just yet but it's either a muscular or nervous anomaly that's causing you the pain, judging from the fact that movements seem to alleviate it.

That said, since it affects both feet and not just one, it is unlikely to be a tumor or any such growth, since the chances of bilateral tumors are... exceedingly rare. (This is good news lol)

Tell me something. Does the pain go away after you bathe your feet in warm water? If you haven't try it and let me know. Additionally, tell me if the pain is sharp and stinging or dull and aching.

I would definitely see a doctor for this. It doesn't sound very serious, but if proven to be a congenital defect, could warrant a need for surgical intervention because it is likely (if congenital) to last throughout your lifetime.

Let me know what your doctor says :)
