the reality of being porn free

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jul 24, 2019.

  1. Being porn free is great, your confidence is permanently increased, you are a lot happier, your body works like it should, but i think there is one misconception some people might have about being pmo free. Honestly life is still hard, its a little easier without the pmo addiction but in the end nothing changes, i have been extremely stressed all day because of my classes, i still feel that sense of hopelessness and dread, i still feel like i want to quit and run away, those things will never change, whether you are pmo free or not, so i just want everyone to know that being pmo free does not equal being stress free, being worry free, you simply can handle it a little better. That is why i always preached about things such as healthy eating, exercise, meditation, cold showers, rebooting is just a tiny step in the grand adventure of becoming more complete, becoming a better version of you, so dont think once your pmo free life will be a breeze, because it wont, i am not saying these things to discourage you or make you lose motivation and hope, life truly is better now for me, my motivation is good, my anxiety is lowered, my confidence is very high, just stay with it guys, improve yourself every second you are given the chance, even if it is something small.

I agree with you all the way. I used to think that NoFap would solve all my problems. It just set the foundation for me to achieve the success I wanted. PMO is an escape when feeling stressed, but I still do not give in to that stuff. You know what I find funny all the time though? People on social media or in real life who think that they have reached the pinnacle of their life and are now wise and act like they have done it all. We're never done. We always have to improve on ourselves to become a better version than a year ago. The only time when we're done is when we're dead.

  3. i completely agree, being pmo free sets the foundation, and from there you must constantly build upon it every chance you get, life will get better when you do, the journey ends in death.

  4. Being PMO free does not equal stress free - so true. I'm glad I am over the initial rush of confidence that came with the first month or two of quitting PMO. It was a time of unrealistic confidence. Of course, I eventually failed and floundered for a bit, but then, with professional help, saw my addiction in a different light, and a more realistic one. As is clearly stated above, challenges remain. They'll never go away! Such is life. I want to add my voice to the ones above to say that guys have to be ready to do more than just quit one thing. They need to find new things to do, because your addiction loves to mess with you.

The reality of being porn free is that you have to deal with the feelings that come up to its surface because you are no longer able to jerk them away.
Now you have to face all that feelings like loneliness, depression and all the other awkward feelings. The mission now is to face to them and try to fix them. This is the point where life begins.
It is now up to us how we handle it...It will be difficult. Some of us will win and some will lose in this game.

    Finally some common sense.

For everyone here to see, those with superpowers, attracting girls like crazy, with amazing energy, etc. I don't think it is a good thing for NoFAP to raise false expectations.

  7. In the end the amazing benefits are only temporary, now of course you do permanently become more confident and less stressed, but honestly you go right back to normal afterwords almost.

U r absolutely right. Let me tell u one thing. I had the luck in life to grow up with people from the poorest part in the city and with the opposite. And what do u think I have learned from them, especially the rich ones: THEY ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO IMPROVE THEIR LIFES, FROM DAY TO DAY. And I am not talking monetary. They just want to learn every day and trying to be a better version of themselves.
My friends, there is a lot of work in front of us.....and u already know it

Honestly, I hear that man. Whenever I have gone on my longer streaks I find that my confidence and overall happiness improves. I am able to connect with people more and that all feels great but.... all the life problems I would PMO away (loneliness, the stress of trying to get through college, the stresses of finding a job, and the stresses of maintaining relationships) would replace the social anxiety and lack of confidence. Unfortunate fact of life, but we just need to push through. I would much, much rather live without PMO.

Agreed but depending on the individual the benefits exist, maybe psychologically but they do. Ive noticed my voice got deeper ever since i started nofap. The extra tension from no O has made me more aggressive in approaching life situations and mentality. Also ive dieted and buikt up some decent muscle in the past month all things that come with the benefit of no sexual abstinence since it makes you more motivated

I think a lot of people feel normal and forget how bad they felt during the depths of PMO addiction.

At least you're not impotent, you can emotionally connect with people, and you can look at yourself in the mirror with pride and not shame. that is the real benefit of nofap.

  12. oh you definitely notice those things during the reboot, but once you are rebooted all that hype and stuff goes away, you basically go right back to normal just porn free, ofcourse you can do other things better now, like reading and stuff.

Its really wierd though. My voice deepened by like an octave. Id rather give up all thats given the withdrawl symptoms though. The frustration is equivalent to me wanting ti strangle my own shadow
