I relapsed after a brilliant 77 days on Sunday night. Still coming to terms with it and trying to pick up the pieces. Appreciate your support over the next few days - thanks.

if it was only one pmo you definitely are not back at square one. its just a slip but youre not at the beginning again. brush yourself off, forgive yourself and keep on trucking. you will not have lost much progress from a brief slip up. stop right there, don't binge or feel guilty, and keep on going. good luck

Saw a post on the subreddit that lets you see the PMO thing like a ratio..
You should restart your counter but you didn’t lost everything. You have just masturbated once in 77 days.
Idk how to explain it clearer tho..

Thanks for the support guys. Am still on shakey ground - almost relapsed again about 10 minutes ago, but remembered to check my NoFap, got the support and am going to bed now. Hopefully will fall asleep.

You're doing great man. Don't feel guilt or shame about it. Steven Adler said it perfectly:"Part of recovery is relapse. I dust myself off and move forward again." Being here only 3 days after the slip is very, very good. I needed 4 months to get my shit together last time I relapsed. Try to figure out what triggered the slip, learn from it and continue with recovery ASAP. Maybe this article can help you do that: Jul 16, 2019

    https://www.smartrecovery.org/stopping-a-slip-from-becoming-a-relapse/

"So does this mean that even a brief lapse must lead to a full-blown relapse? Does it mean a person must continue to drink or drug until the use returns to the initial level? Is spiraling out of control inevitable? Simply put, no. A lapse need not become a relapse. After a slip, you have not unlearned all that you have learned. You have not unchanged all that you have changed in your life to support your recovery. You do not have to start counting again from day one.

If you view your lapse as a mistake and as a product of external triggers, rather than as a personal failure, research shows that you will have a much better chance of return to abstinence quickly. Your lapse becomes a tool to move forward and to strengthen your motivation to change, your identification of triggers and urge-controlling techniques, your rational coping skills, and the lifestyle changes needed to lead a more balanced life."

77 days is a huge accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself. You've accomplished more than a lot of other people in this matter. What did you learn? Keep fucking going

Really appreciate the comments and feedback. Honestly, it's a massive struggle at the moment. When you relapse i feel you don't take one step back: you take about ten. And it's a lonely, lonely battle. Nobody knows about this stuff except you guys.

I have promised myself to keep checking in here everyday and hopefully, by the time I am finished writing and readlng, the urge to act out will be a bit less. So please write back. Your support is keeping me going. Thank you!

There is no failure. The only failure is not trying. If you fail it doesn't matter. Try again, keep trying. I've tried years and years and years before I found a way out. It might take you a couple of times, don't kick your ass over failing. Everyone fails, you'll learn from failure. You might do it slightly different next time but don't pause, don's start from scratch, keep going, keep going because eventually you'll get it. Eventually you'll stop. Great Japanese saying goes: "If you get knocked down seven times, get up eight times." That's the mentality you've got to have like a fighter, keep fighting, keep going.

You have a fresh foundation and build new habits on that. Do better than you did before.
