    mtaha2015.

I should let you know that by experience I find these kind of discussions not that good in the long run, but I still will give you a thought to think about.

If you by chance find that your belief aren't cooperating with reality, then you are doing right in "throwing it away".
But I do believe in God. Just not that "god" you think is God... and probably my image of God isn't the true God either.

Would God help you with quitting porn? I don't know - you tell me? Has he helped you? He sure has helped me, but not by snapping his fingers and using magic, but by not leaving me when in times of struggle. But I'm awere of that many doesn't "find God" in times of struggle. That doesn't mean God isn't real all together though - just that our thought's about God has to be revised.

    Hi mtaha2015.

This is my opinion about GOD.
    Precisely,I call it GodS.

In buddism, there are many gods.
In my view, Buddhism seems that gods are not so important.
It thinks importantly of self discipline.

I don't think the idea of opposition of "Atheist Vs Theist" is fit for me.
The religions are more like norms of life.

I'm agnostic, and as long people don't fuck up lives of others or their children, I'm okay that they have religion. I think circumsicion is wrong, for example. Let the kid decide when he hits the age of consent.

I was atheist a year ago, and I still don't believe in the personal God in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. However, I have come across some spiritual Christian people whose God makes sense. I am a pantheist now. I believe God is the awareness behind all things. The totality of the universe. Of course this "God" helps in our reboot. By practicing awareness over thoughts and feelings, you become detached to them and thus they lose their hold over you, then you will be able to choose one thought over another after a good practice of awareness. I have alot to say about this but I thought I would just say a few things.

  8. I see no evidence for the existence of any gods. Thus, my reboot is held up by myself, this forum and the friends I have made here, the people who know and love me, and some strangers who've been kind in passing.

    looks like kind of psycho.

    This is a unbiased statement.

I still like some practices of islam, judaism and christainity
but the way , GOD behaves and tell his followers to torture other.

    I mean its insane.

    completely insane.

and billions of idiots are still following their imaginary angry GOD.

this bull shit is really disturbing and mental torture.
    and it confuses too.

    I mean according to ALLAH.
christains and jews will burn in hell.
    According to Christain GOD.
Muslims and jews will burn in hell

    and same for other religions.

if a christain god is right, or jewish god is right.

why the fucck he let me born in a muslim family.
and now I was born in muslim family , I never read bible.

so now I will burn in hell for ever.

Yes,there are many gods in Hinduism.
Also, there are many gods in Buddhism Because buddhism borrowed hindi gods in early time.
It was useful to teach Buddhist philosophy to Hindi people.

For your information, In japan, we believe Shinto-nism too.
    Shinto also has many gods.
For me, the idea of "There is only GOD (capital)" is hard to understand. No offense :)

In other religions, Gods becomes angry or there is always angry gods.
In shinto, the fear of gods and the favor of gods are like a two sides of a coin.

mtaha2015, you are mad about the Abrahamic God that you were taught to believe in as a child.

You have more than just the two choices though, to believe in that theology or believe in nothing.

Personally, I haven't found any version of theism that can coexist with my lived experiences and my ability to think, but at least I've looked.

You have to break free of what you reject and allow yourself to start building positive experiences.

Most people who claim to be theist do NOT believe in the angry, callous, jealous god you object to.

Maybe you think they're only fooling themselves, that they're making a mistake, but that's their business, not yours.

Clear your mind, get out there, interact with new people, and learn about other ways of approaching the spiritual side of things.

There are some good answers in this thread already. It could be a good start for you.

    My Thoughts...
I was born among Christian people, and I have a learned a lot. Despite, not being a complete devote to a religion.

Answering the question from the thread, I think God will always give us a chance to be whom we want to be. ALWAYS...
Obviously, the hard work comes from having faith and working towards that goal, you've proposed yourself. What I mean with the word faith is that you have a strong believe and a certainty with no proof at all about something in particular(Just like you playing against a strong opponent and believing that you will win somehow). God is love.

    I agree
I believe that God Existed as he started the universe with a burt of whatever but don't tell me he exists now
    That's totally nonsense.
The Russian Ukraine war so many innocent people are dying . If they was a God tell me why Can't he stop that? !?
Same thing goes for the palastine isralite war We've all seen the pictures. .Sure they under peace treaties now but How many innocent children men and women died people.
How come there is so much suffering on this earth. .Don't tell me its because of adam and eve blah blah blah

So we all have to suffer because of two people Screw that.

We as the human race are destend for so much more. . We can achieve a lot more if we remove this stupid religion fairytale mindset.

Its screwed that I have to go to church everyday . I could do way better things with my time

I've never felt his holyness or whatever during my reboot

I haven't found a reason to believe in the existence of a god so I don't believe such supernatural beings exist.

Therefore I don't think my reboot was aided by one any more than my addiction years ago was caused by one.

Well, if it's allowed to wright about this topic...

What is truth? What is reality?
Is it the things we experience and the events that occur in our surroundings? Well, what about the experiences of others then - are they real? Of course they are, but we need to define reality in a other way. Science based reality on materialism - the conviction that there is only a reality within the world of matter, and that there is no such thing as a "god" or "spiritual world". That is the foundation of science!

So how can science prove that there is no god when it already has made the statement that there isn't anything outside the boundaries of matter? It's impossible! But everyday men and women claim to have proven the non-existens of a god and spiritual beings, only to prove that them themself go beyond the foundation of science and into the realm of belief - yes, belief! Not a belief in a non-existing god (as many argue), but a belief in a world without any god. There is no and cannot be any fully proof to this, since it's always based on our worldview, a belief just as much as anyother.

Is there a god? Tell me what you believe, and stop talking about proof: there will never be any absolute proof. The fact is even when science finds it's proof or evidence about anything, it's still only a proof or evidence within the system of the materialism worldview. Look up "Gödel's incompleteness theorems", it's proven that there will never be any absolute proof within the world of logic. There will always be a set of axioms.

We all have to choose our foundations, our convictions. I have chosen the belief in a god, but that belief doesn't mean I'm putting science and the sceptical mind away, only that I'm willing to except the fact there might be a god after all, and that I even think I might have met "him". If you asked me to prove it, I can not as for the reasons above. But if you were willing to hear it from the realm of a beliving perspective, I might be able to give a proof based on my own axioms.

But my own experience show that there are few who are willing to see things from an other perspective, trying to see the world based on a believing foundation. Many just see how the words from a believers mouth doesn't fit within there own worldview, and make the false asumption that it proves that it's inlogical. The truth is that the only logical (and maybe irritable) is to exept the fact that we all have our axioms, and that ones opinions might be logical if we change the axioms.

Maybe there are differences in some concepts in different languages ( English is not my native language) but I don't understand how one can decide to believe something (unless you decide to do some kind of brain washing on yourself).

    I am god.

tomtom has it down though. Religion is controlling the masses by creating fear and brainwashing them.

It's not a translation error, and, no, I never understood it either.
Those who hold that you must believe or you're damned, also hold that belief is a choice.
To me it seems like a waste of a crucifixion, if logical souls are excluded from "free" salvation.
