Getting rid of my smartphone

good luck buddy, i attempted this... lasted about two weeks then needed to whatsapp video a friend for his birthday in a different country and never went back to the shitty phone. The two weeks it lasted felt good though im not going to lie

 

me neither.. i have zero social media accounts, ridded myself of them a few years back. Quite the avid google searcher and youtuber though...

 

Well in dude I'm made up for you. I got rid of my phone about 2 years ago, you'll also learn to enjoy social interactions with strangers as a side benefit, rather than being a zombie.

 

This is what I'm thinking of doing with my computer. Too powerless for this and we all deserve better than to suffer with this addiction. Whatever it takes, do it.

 

Good for you pal. Go as long as you can without it. If you can,use the public library or internet cafe when you require internet access.

I need Google maps for work though.

I settled on ditching and disabling all social media apps and widgets. I also have A2U installed and all that is motivation to stay put of where I have no business. Not for one second have I missed FB

I have WhatsApp and discord but I use those only for AP groups and conversations.

Smartphone porn isn’t the problem. It’s a symptom.
Don’t treat the symptoms - find the root cause by the neck and kill it dead.
Then you can enjoy real phone n not worry about relapsing nomore.

 

Sorry Grease but with all due respect that's poor advice - though I'd say it's hardly even advice but impractical idealism. If this man watches porn on his phone then by all means he would do well to get rid of it until yes as you say he can start to treat causes. Then in the future he can enjoy the benefits of owning a Smartphone.

 

If what you're doing isn't working you have to change something. I'm sure he's already tried to find the cause, but it isn't getting him the results he wants.

 

dunno. Feels like smartphone ban is real drastic and counter-productive. No smartphone means no nofap, too, and addicts will find their ways to the next fix.

Don't think you phone is your problem. You can easily keep the phone and avoid porn.

 

I can't do without a smart phone so I installed Net Nanny. It has an adult mode and it seems to be quite effective. In fact, it was overzealous -- it blocked this site! So I'm unblocking sites as necessary and then I'll log out and put the password where I can't get it.

While I was at it, I installed StayFocused, which is free, and set it to block the programs I spend too much time on after two hours (total of all those sites and I may reduce it to one hour). It's a really great program, but it only works on Chrome, so it's easy to get around. I haven't been tempted to bypass it, though.
