Why do scientific community keeps implying that masturbation is healthy when it is not?

That is a problem of our age and yet millions of psychologists say it is even healthier to do so as if there is nothing wrong with worse social situation and other problems that comes with it.

    Why do they do that?

  2. Scientific consensus can be somewhat slow when it comes to such things. I mean back in the 19th century people would often have their doctors prescribe them cocaine as treatment for numerous diseases. Same thing happened with tobacco. Porn is no different in that regard and I believe that in the future porn addiction will be treated as seriously as alcoholism and gambling addiction.

Not enough scientific research has been done about porn because this epidemic started only in the recent 20~ years..

  4. I think that masturbation is not bad, the problem is porn that makes you abuse masturbation.

Lots of money in the porn industry so science will have a long fight...plus science is delayed. We used to believe many things were okay/healthy that are not.

I believe that masturbation COULD actually be beneficial, when done in moderation, but porn is not. The problem is that we've all associated masturbation with porn, and we have to break that union by abstaining on both porn and masturbation. Scientists did a porn research, but guess what they found... there were NO men who hadn't viewed porn ever, so there is nowhere to compare. Now, there are individuals that say NEVER to masturbate again, to experience the benefits of semen retention and sexual transmutation. I have not experienced that, so I can't really tell if masturbation is healthy or not, after breaking the porn union.

But associated to porn/porn thoughts? No, Not healthy at all...

  7. Does anyone have any links to studies about the healthiness (or lack thereof) of masturbation? I feel like I've seen lots of comments like "scientists/psychologists/everyone say(s) that masturbating is (un)healthy," but I've yet to see a link to a scientific study that makes a claim either way.

There are not many studies yet but here is a good summary article of several with links.

Science is always wrong before it's right. We might think we know something only to be completely wrong. And most humans are group thinkers, if a big smart scientist says porn and masturbation are healthy, people will believe it. Porn is NEVER healthy, it might not adversely affect some people, but there is no benefit to it. Same with masturbation, what good does it actually do you?
