Overcoming 'Default Mode' When Tired?

  1. I've been trying to quit for a couple of months now, and I've been able to go for about a week at a time, give or take. The longest being 11 days. But one time I see myself struggling the most is when I'm drowsy or tired. I get home from school, I was up late last night, so I'm tired tonight, and doing things that keep my mind occupied on other things doesn't seem very appealing when it seems like it requires brain power that I don't have enough of. So I enter a default-mode where my brain sends me into this edging cycle, day after day until eventually I've edged for so long that I end up indulging in PMO. Does anyone have any tips for what to do when you're tired, or trying to come off of that high level of stress and focus from the day?

    I know what you mean. Sometimes when I was completely beat and exhausted and didn't even feel the need to "beat off" I would do it anyway.

    For me, maybe my addiction is more out of habit, or routine. I normally did it just before bed.

    Maybe what you can do is just create a new routine. When you are used to doing something your body naturally does it. Just find something else to do before bed. Spend time with your family, or go to sleep earlier. Read a book, maybe pray? Anything but pmo.

    an 11 day streak is great, even 1 week or after a few days. Just look at the bigger picture and keep thinking about how you felt after a few days of being clean. It hurts going so long and having to start over. I am sure it's a hell of a lot better than when you were pmoing.

  3. Thanks man! I'll definitely take that to heart. I've really made a point of taking time to figure out how to apply advice from other people into my life. Rest assured, I'm really gonna take your advice to heart and figure out what to do.

    It's not as much right before bed as much as just after getting home from school. Senior year can be stressful. But a lot of times it's just tiring. So when I get home I just feel like sitting. Perhaps entering into prayer whilst entering the house would be a good plan.

    I know there will never be a perfect, fool-proof piece of advice on 'how to succeed at NoFap without really trying,' so I plan to really put the advice into action. Thank you!!

    I know what you mean, because with me, many times it is almost the same, i have many routines and stuff to do, but i know when i feel to relapse, i tend to do nothing and not want to do nothing, just laying somewhere in my house alone, and after some time, im in front of pc pmo myself..

    The thing is we must control our mind and body, so when you feel like doing nothing because your body want porn, even if you dont have conscious about it, you know what going to happen if you dont do nothing.. so my advise to you is fulfill your mind with beauty things of your life, thoughts, memories, hearing something beautiful, seeing landscapes, doing something good like post something in this forum to help someone.. the state in your mind must be, this world is so big, so mysterious, certainly i can do something now that will fulfill me without hurt me.. and you can!

    in every moment we can do something to increase the happiness and the kindness of this world.

    so let's do this
