    Hi guys,

there is an article about the negative consequences of No Sex over a long time.
It's in german, so i translated this in via google translate in english.

"Ex-jungle camper Rocco Stark (33) abstained from sex for a whole year. So he wants to win back his still-wife Nathalie. Urologist dr. Christoph Pies writes in BILD why abstinence in society is increasing and explains what the "widower-sonydrome" is about:

Almost a third of all singles between the ages of 15 and 30 have no sex for at least one year. And also the frequency of sexual intercourse in fixed relationships has decreased in recent decades. If we only copulate 53 times a year today, it was 60 to 65 times 20 years ago.

There may be plausible explanations for this increasing abstinence: stress, no time, no opportunity, no partner, psychological reasons, physical disabilities, fear of sexually transmitted diseases, religious reasons, self-control or abandonment as a "kick" to the relationship.

All well and good, but just less than a week after ejaculation has failed, the testosterone levels in men have demonstrably dropped.

The fullness of abstinence, the so-called "widower syndrome", therefore denotes a sexual disorder after prolonged abstinence. The body gets used to the sex withdrawal, produces less testosterone, which in turn suffers the libido. Abstinence can thus lead to a decrease in self-esteem, often there are fear of failure on resumption of activity and it leads to an avoidance behavior.

The cavernous can "wither" in the absence of blood circulation.

Conversely, many positive effects of regular sex have been scientifically proven. Through sex there is an increased release of happiness hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins as well as an inhibition of the stress hormone cortisone.

Two to three times a week sex strengthens the immune system, even the salivary exchange during kissing acts as a vaccine demonstrably by an increased antibody production.

Sleep researchers have shown that 60 percent of people with sleep disorders sleep better after an orgasm. In animal experiments, regular sex could even lead to nerve cell growth in the brain of rats. It is known that people who live in a long-standing partnership with regular sex have a longer life expectancy than people who never have a partnership.

Although other influencing factors such as diet, general condition and lifestyle must of course be taken into account, these should be enough reasons to remain sexually active even at a high age ..."

So...what do you think about this?

The second half mostly centers on sex. No sex is bad, yes. But no sex, only PMO is even worse. The desirable lifestyle is having a partner and having sex frequently. NoFap is against having no partner and masturbating 7 days a week.

Interesting. I need to ask a few questions and make some observations.

"The cavernous can "wither" in the absence of blood circulation."

What is the cavernous? What does "wither" mean in this scenario and how does absence of blood circulation is related to absence of sex? That sentence is too confusing for me.

"many positive effects of regular sex have been scientifically proven. Through sex there is an increased release of happiness hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins as well as an inhibition of the stress hormone cortisone.

Only partly correct. What they said about the release of the hormones is true. But "positive" is not a word that goes well with "scientifically proven" in this scenario. It seems like the author defines short term pleasure as "positive". If you want me to expound on the problem with that, I will. But for those that have already gotten my point, I will just say this: naivete...

"Sleep researchers have shown that 60 percent of people with sleep disorders sleep better after an orgasm."

This is the semen retention part of the forum. That makes me particularly comfortable to ask whoever is reading this here this: do you have a sleep disorder? Most wouldn't need me to continue, but if you do have one, have you tried other solutions that don't create bigger problems than the sleep disorder? You get my meaning...

This article doesn't say anything about porn or masturbation. Just that regular sex with a partner has physical and emotional benefits. Which seems logical to me.
Most of us aren't here because we plan on becoming celibate for the rest of our lives. I think we are mostly here to kick the habit of excessive masturbation (with or without use of porn) which in turn can improve ones sex life and relationships in general.

I would have to agree that being entirely celibate for long periods of time is probably not healthy for the male organs.
The body needs to be used and exercised in order to stay functional and healthy. But equally overuse can create its own problems too. Getting the balance right is the key, and that balance will be different for each individual.

I tend to look at sex the same way I look at food. The right kind, in the right quantity can help keep us healthy and happy. Too much or too little, especially of the wrong kind (PMO) will do the opposite. We shouldn't over indulge but nor should we starve ourselves.
Healthy balance that works for us an individual is what we should be aiming for, rather than living at unnatural extremes at either end.

I think they are referring to the corpus cavernosum - that main tissue chambers of the penis that fills with blood during an erection. Though I'm not sure about the wither part either because even celibate men still get erections.

I can personally attest to sleeping better after orgasm - lost of guys get sleepy after release but that doesn't mean lack of sex will cause insomnia, or that sex should be used as a tool for compensation for insomnia.

Oh, I see. If that's the case, what a terrible argument indeed. Don't morning woods accomplish the same thing?

And I can attest to that too. It's just a poor excuse to have sex frequently. It creates a much more problem than the one it solves.
