I deleted a social media account

Discussion in 'Compulsive Sexual Behavior' started by Deleted Account, Oct 5, 2019.

  1. I have never understood the point of one of the social media sites.

I had an account, but I wasn't using it at all, or not very much.

In the past few weeks, I realized it was easy to follow accounts on that site that post pictures that trigger me. Especially since it suggested even more of those accounts to follow.

After thinking about it for a few days, I finally went ahead and deleted my account last night.

A few minutes ago, for a few seconds, I had an impulse that would have brought me there. Good thing I deleted my access.

I didn't dare name the site. Not sure if that's the way to proceed at NoFap.

Not sure if this post is in the right forum. Let me know.

I still haven't been able resist PMO. That's why I haven't started using the days counter.

At least, I am glad to be here.

  2. Hey tingpm222 :)

I also barely use Social Media now. Also, on the only one I use, I end up liking so many photos of animals that my page will only show me pictures of cute animals. Even then I really minimize my use. Only for talking to people.

I think that's great that you made that step :)

And like Coffee said, please do make a counter so we can all see your progress and succeed with you!

  3. An excellent choice Brother @tingpm222.

Social media has potential to be very harmful in many ways. I'm not saying it's all bad but I am saying it's definitely not all good either. In my opinion most of us would be better off without it.

My hat is off to You, Sir :)

  5. Good job. I quit social media for the most part several years back for other reasons. I still used instagram because I felt it wasnt as bad. But i slowly found myself following lots of pages that post scantily clad full figured women. And when I decided to go nofap, i noticed that those pictures would trigger me and lead to pmo so it was hard but i eventually got off of that social media platform. Its crazy how one little thing can trigger another and another and before you know it, your back on porn. Keep up the good work.

  6. For the record, the site I left is Instagram

Good for you man. I quit social media 2 years ago and haven't missed it at all. Too easy to stumble across triggering images, and it seems like everyone who uses it regularly these days turn into political buzzkills at parties arguing with each other, I swear it's bad for you

I deactivated my Facebook and Instagram account last weekend for the first time in my life.
Too much precious time was lost with on this fake world I created around me.

@tingpm222 great awareness and good self care! I did not do social media anymore either. I’m old so not a big loss but it does take one more temptation off the board for me.
In the end, nothing will KEEP me free. But we can give ourselves a chance by limiting our triggers.
    Good job!
