Rethinking Rebooting

    Hello- so I am at Day 7 of my reboot. Some days have been easy, others have been a real challenge. I’ve been surprised- abstaining from porn has been easier than I would have expected- it’s the abstaining from masturbation that’s been particularly difficult. However, some “Devil’s Advocate” type thoughts have been creeping in. If I don’t masturbate, then it’s super easy for me to get aroused at the slightest thing, I get an ache in my testicles and my mind starts racing towards lascivious thoughts. After a certain point, isn’t it just better to “bust one out” so it is easier to move on. I’m not talking about a 2 hr lubed up in front of porn masturbation jam session. At this point I’m so horny I should last all of 60 seconds. Wouldn’t standing over the toilet whipping one out make it so I was less thinking about how I can’t masturbate and less concentrating about the ache in my balls. I feel like going without completely makes it more prominent in my thoughts and tugging at me. Thanks for listening.

    Yea man I know how you feel on this one. I found that by day 14ish I got used to it and it wasn't consuming my thoughts all of the time. The thing is you're going to be horny either way because your brain is going to crave porn. The reason people abstain from masturbation is because it makes the urges less strong than if you were masturbating. Try this- try to rethink how you feel about being physically horny. I always see it as an accomplishment that motivates me to further pursue my goal. There's a large difference between a mental craving and a physical sensation.
