I was a Genius. PMO ruined everything.

Hi all! This is my first post on NoFap. I believe the title sums up my story very well. I am 19 and discovered porn at a very young age (I cannot recall the exact age but would be around 10) but only started masturbating when I was around 14. The first few years were great. I was exploring what was what and had a great time. High School was the time of my life. The final 2 years of School were and probably will be for a long time the best years if my life. I was doing exceptionally well in academics (as always) and was physically very fit. I discovered what I wanted to do in life and was in love. Things could not have been better. I was always considered the brightest student in my batch. But this past year changed everything. My PMO was not alarmingly high but was still a relatively high number. I did it atleast 5 times a week and sometimes did it everyday. The first few months were still normal but the last 6 months have been dreadful with failed attempts at quitting. The situation I am in feels something like this; it feels like my brain has been in some form of a hibernation. My focus is gone and I don’t have the motivation to work anymore. It just feels like my brain has lost its abilities of processing things. I have terrible memory and I feel extremely insecure. An example of such problems: I was extremely quick and efficient with numbers, I could calculate mentally faster than most people could with calculators. But in the past few months I have made blunders in calculting. I am not able to do it even at the slowest pace. What seemed like simply walking on a plain road now feels like climbing the mount everest to me. I have also had extreme problems with my memory. I cannot recall anything about a line I read 30 seconds ago. I am not used to such things and it has taken a toll on my health, I have been clinically depressed for some time now and I have also been having physical health issues during this period. I believe that my story easily captures why PMO is so damn dangerous and why everyone must try and stay away from it.
PS: Sorry for such a long post, I have been holding these things in for quite a while. Its only been a week since I last masturbated and I hope I can recover quickly from this brain fog kind of thing.

 

Your story illustrates the horrible consequences of addiction to porn, masturbation and orgasm (PMO). Of course, it can become much, much worse over a much longer period. But even at your level, it still sucks! Get involved on the site.
