Whatsup Fapstronauts, I've been meaning to post since I started four days ago to explain where I came from and how I got to my current situation and why I am here now but I feel like that can wait.

I am an engineering student and I'm in a point of my semester where a lack of focus could seriously mess me up (as in extend my degree). My abstinance is making this very difficult. In the last two days I have had vivid dreams : one where internet trolls emailed me porn which contained images of woman I fell for a while back and it broke me. She is intelligent, beautiful and free, she set a new standard for what I wanted in a woman and here I was dreaming of her in poses as if she was a pornstar. The other dream was one where I found a friends phone that he had forgot and it was littered with porn. If it wasn't so frustrating I would've commended my mind in being able to create these videos I've never seen. Besides the dreams ( and I'm trying my best to express myself in way that is sensitive to others) it is as if my genitalia feel heavy, like they want something to do and my mind is swimming in a soup. I am not ADHD but I'm struggling to focus on the most basic things. In the past masturbation would've provided me with the clarity that I seek but that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Is there some way of regaining clarity without relapsing?

    Hi and welcome!
Yes, your mind will be clearer and the fog will dissapear with Time but you have to refuse to view porn, avoid it, stop fantasising. Your mind is full of arousal images and fantasies about girls. Install porn blockers in your computer and phone the first 90 days at least. There are people that doesn't need install porn blockers but others they must.
Avoid to look girls and women like before.
    Cheers!

First days are hard. Try to focus on why you want to quit porn, find the strongest reasons.

If you can, find study groups, avoid being alone, you will see that being with people will help your mind. Go to public places to study, maybe a starbucks, or a library, places where you would never act so your brain doesnt relate them to PMO.

On a side note, something which I have discovered is that (and I'm thinking some of you have experienced this as well) a full bladder triggers arousal or at least suggests it.

I'm wondering if it is because my mind associates M with going to the loo (just because thats were I typically do it) or if there is something else at play.

  8. I agree with what others have said. The first days are hard but it will get better. One thing that helps me is to find other healthier ways to get dopamine - like exercise. Maybe go play sports or go running for 30 mins. It has really helped me. Best of luck to you!

There absolutely is a way of regaining clarity: what is your 'Why?' It has to be something other than helping you get through the semester. This has to be something that grips you and convicts you to the core to keep you from the destructive power of pornography and "clearing your head" through masturbation. I've been where you are. There is no easy button, but you can do this!!! You need a strong 'Why?' When you have that, then you can start to build a plan off of that.
