Why did they start telling us masturbation is healthy?

What connects the CIA, the American Psychological Association and masturbation?

Since discovering that not only is masturbation frowned upon in all the major religions and is considered to be a serious threat to health by Traditional Chinese Medicine, but that until the 1960s, boys in the West were warned about its dangers, I've begun to wonder why the advice changed.

Until the late 1960s, the American Psychological Association (APA) considered excessive masturbation to be a mental health problem. Why did they change their minds?

Given that there has been a long-standing relationship between the Central Intelligence Agency and the APA, I have started to wonder whether this policy change was part of a broader push to weaken society.

We know that the CIA took a keen interest in drugs and the counter-culture; we know that they were interested in trauma and the effect it had on children; there is evidence that they helped fund leading feminists; and today, the wider US State (along with various Western European governments) are actively promoting the LGBT agenda to children and traditional societies around the world.

Now we see that the United Nations is advocating teaching masturbation to young children.

Taken together, this looks to me like a drive to undermine society, the family and relations between men and women - to break us up into easily controllable, atomised individuals / consumers.

    Any thoughts?

  4. We like to romanticize the past, people were wise and knew better...

Open history books and read what was happening in China at the time when people were as you believe - wise, you will be horrified to discover, disease, pain, suffering, starvation, rampant violence, epidemics and death. Abuse of kids, rape and infliction of pain and suffering, manifestation of injustice so beyond what you are used to - you may question the sanity of humanity as a whole.
How in your mind could these people be so unwise about their health in some many respects and then be wiser than modern world counterparts armed with scientific research?

I promise you - you would not want to live among those wise people. They were considered wise by their piers, for the times they were in and information they had, today, they would be uneducated at best.

You do not need to teach masturbation to children, children are very smart, they figure it out on their own. What is taking place is an attempt to not force children to feel guilt for doing so, because they do it ether way.
Being judged for doing something as natural as masturbation, created guilt and lack of self esteem that actually leads to abusive behavior.

    CIA pushing masturbation... yea....

  5. I enjoyed your post--makes one think. In the end, anything that becomes compulsive and creates negative effects in my life is bad for me. So, in most cases, masturbation falls into that category--mainly because I pair it with porn and it screws up my brain chemistry, leads to escalation, creates secrecy, isolation, shame, etc. Masturbation in and of itself is not (my opinion) evil or bad. It's normal and age old. But like anything, it can be misused, distorted, etc. Somehow, culturally, we need to create a balance between de-shaming sex without encouraging a life without boundaries.

  6. Masturbation is made unhealthy by the individual who can't exercise moderation.
People often overlook themselves and like pinning the blame on other things. I mean sure, masturbation being used as a coping mechanism isn't healthy at all, it's detrimental if it leads to that point.
I'm not saying go masturbate till your mind explodes from pleasure, but acknowledge that only you can make something like masturbation unhealthy for yourself. Just because it's unhealthy for you, doesn't mean it's unhealthy for everyone else.

It is certainly true that a people who are focused so much on pleasure are easily controlled. They won’t give up pleasure for the sake of principle. Easily controlled citizens has been the goal of government since it began.

Truth is things can have healthy benefits, but also have long term negative consequences down the road. Men do need to ejaculate to maintain healthy sperm, and prostate function, that's known. It's also necessary to have regular erections to maintain the health of the penis veins. When we switched from being anti-masturbation to being pro masturbation it was mainly a scientific vs religious/moral debate. Most of the historic reasons against masturbation were bullshit, and science discovered positive reasons to do it.

Science has never really conducted studies into the long term effects of MO, and PMO on a large scale. Doctors of the past had no reason to suspect it would cause issues simply because they had no data to suggest that it would, and the main arguments against it were religious, or down right folk loreish. Like smoking, it will take enough studies to force doctors to change their view, and there simply has not been enough of those yet on the subject.

I think we often take the wrong approach on anything that is related to sex. It seems now that the narrative on a variety of issues is pushing us to behave in a certain way. We are pretty much encouraged to masturbate, told that watching porn is ok, told that its good to be openly gay or transsexual.
I think all of these things are fine, its just that we put too much emphasis on it and it turns into a compulsive behaviour. If kids were just simply taught about sexuality, reproduction/biology and gender and then left to make their own decisions then we probably wouldn't have half the problems in society that we do now. But instead we have various media outlets basically encouraging certain behaviours to the point where we start to obsess over it. Ive spent a lot of time in the US and Australia and its pretty bad in both those places.

In other countries Ive travelled to it doesn't seem as bad. For example I've seen parks in Europe where its cool to sunbake naked in the middle of the city. You do see young naked women, but because they aren't brainwashed to obsess over sex nobody even really looks twice. If a women did that in Australia there would be creeps hiding in the bushes masturbating.

by having all of your citizens addicted to porn you are able to control them - physically and mentally. Porn can destroy generations for sure. If porn is good, then why do people restrict themselves from it even though they don't have an addiction? It ruins your brain just like how cocaine would. Westerners really should learn from people from the East when it comes to spirituality and deeper philosophical meanings.
