Porn should be treated like the plague of the earth... and not only porn

For real why would any government allow something that can mess you up so badly. Oh wait yes - because we live in a world where politics is governed by economics! The sad fucking reality. Under no circumstance there should be content in a society which provides 0 health benefits and only damages you. And yet cigarettes, porn, food that is stuffed with all kinds of shit is freely distributed. Of course you have the "free choice" of not being associated with any of these negative habits, but only by existing some people are drawn to them and then the damage is done and sometimes irreversible... Worst part is that man's ignorance and stupidity stretches beyond measure and it will be hard to revoke any of this negative behaviour and highly improbable. Shit governments will produce shit citizens, shit citizens will reproduce and the pattern will continue until humanity choke's in it's own shit. I am disgusted by it all, the fucking ratrace everything that is done and is pointless and contributes humanity nothing. Most of all I feel disgusted of myself for not being able to be the man I want to be. The shit drags me down more and more and I feel I'll drown. My greatest fear is that I will live all my life in the shit, I want to cleanse myself, but all my motivation is lost when I'm an unstained snowflake in an avalanche of shit. It all seems pointless but it is only pointless if I percieve it so. If I continue like this I know I will be sad and depressed till the rest of my life. Something must be done...

As with everything, if there is demand there will be supply.

We are living in the internet age. Unchartered territory in many ways. Never before has addiction been so prevalent and so easy to slip into.

Prohibition never worked with anything else and it won't work with porn- as insidious as it is, it is up to us not to watch it.

The real reason people are all so easily addicted in my opinion is the cult of individualism. Humanity is no longer together and we all feel the pain of the separation so we seek quick fixes in porn and whatever else.

    The solution is ......

Your post is very interesting. I think it was Karl Marx that said religion is the opium for the masses. I truly think that porn is the opium of the masses. Porn creates zombies that are satisfied as long as they have their porn. The zombies don't care what the government does as long as their porn is there to take them away from it all. When you're drowned in the addiction of PMO, that's all you care about. You don't (or at least I didn't) care about what the government was doing. All I cared about was porn. I worked during the day and my nights and weekends revolved around PMO. I would think that the people in power will likely perpetuate porn because the vast majority of the people addicted to porn to don't really care what the people in power do. I've always wondered if the founding fathers of the US would have ever rebelled against England if porn was around then the way that it is now. Would porn have sapped all the thought, energy and power out of these men to a point where they really wouldn't have cared if they weren't represented or if they had to pay more taxes?

I'm not exactly in to conspiracy theories, but I do understand what you are saying on a metaphorical level.

There's a poster with an avatar of a road that splits. You may have seen it. A bunch of people are walking on the same path but there is one person going down a different street.

Sometimes it's hard to walk alone. But remember, you are not alone. We're all in this together. We can build our own community of non-porn viewing men and woman. We can be clean again.

My latest post said "As surely as cigarettes will blacken my lungs, porn will darken my spirit." so I definitely can relate to you.

    Good luck

Prohibition never worked against anything? Imagine if murder was legal, people would be killing each other just when the spirits got a little higher. Now in most countries there is a law that punishes you for it, which strongly discorages most people of doing it. Believe me I've felt several times in my life like killing people, I was immature but still if there was no law against it it would have led me to their peril or mine. Of course porn is not that extreme in reality, but way more cunning. How can you deal with an addiction if you don't know that it can harm you so much. Complete prohibition will only lead to increasing the value of the product but people will still find a way and yet many will be discouraged if there are severe penalty. But wouldn't that make the government spend too many resources on it? Yeah it would. Mindful teaching how porn is bad may be the best choice. How about an animated text scrolling sideways on each porn video that says "You will get PIED" or something of that sort. That way you can discourage even more people just like smoking. So much possibilities so little action. Even documentaries on porn get little attention and are taken light heartedly by most people beacuse they are already addicted. Governments don't want smart people, mainly beacuse of the fact that when they get smart enough and increase in number they will overthrow the government. So they are given just enough not to rebel but not enough to have a " new renaissance". We live in the most mediocre times ever.

  6. I have to say I always feel a bit sad reading these posts so intensely against porn. I mean, for myself, there was a reason I got addicted. I got addicted because I love porn, I love porn because it fulfilled some precise needs as well as an incredibly deep feeling of loneliness. Is porn fake? Yes, I truly believe so; does it distorts reality and brings wrong thoughts in the heads of masses, yes I do believe so to; do I hate it? Hell no, I love it, everyday I try not to watch it because I miss it. It happened that I myself managed to suddenly recognize the profound detrimental effect it had on me, but Lord knows we're all exceptions on here, I swear on God everytime I read a men magazine in a doctor office, it's impacted with praises of masturbation, and watch porn with your partner if you can't get your soldier up! I don't feel that porn should be banned, it would make the problem much worse. For me, the one and only reason NoFap works is because people CONSCIOUSLY CHOOSE TO DO IT. I tried to quit PMO once, not for myself but for God and my parents, and I failed miserably and went even deeper in the addiction. I tried again, for myself only, cold turkey, and it worked. I don't think forcing people that want to be kept blinded to see the truth would be a good solution in this particular case.

If you fear to live all your life in shit, perhaps you unconsciously stay in that shit, because going out of that shit would be an immense change. Because quitting porn is scary. It's out of the norm. It's the contrary of what society tells you to do. I'm coming out of 4 months of absolutely fucking horrible depression so I know I'm advocating the devil, but trust me, behind the chemical reactions in your brain that prevents you to be happy, the only thing you can do is to believe in your own happiness, to do exactly what you feel you desire to do, but don't want to. In this case, quitting PMO. The euphoria given by milestones is extremely real, but ONLY if you BELIEVE they are. I want to get the sentence "you only get the miracles you accept to believe in" tattooed since a long time. This is what I mean. Your post sounded very bitter and sad and I truly want you to know that even though I don't necessarily share your opinions or mindset right now, if you are hurt in some ways, I wish nothing for you but recovery, you deserve to get better. And if I mistook what you said and my answer is completely out-topic, please forgive me.

I extremely want to say my opinion here but I have promised myself not to get in long arguments about heated topics and I will keep my promise.

  8. Again I'm very sorry, I respectfully strongly disagree. I think we live in the best times EVER and I wouldn't at all like to live in another era. We have the highest technology, means of communication, culture, and science progress. I think it's up to you to decide of your happiness regarding this particular subject. If you think all is black, all we be black.

Murder is different from PMO... PMO only concerns you and is widely regarded as for the most part beneficial, or kept disclosed - you said it better than me. Murder regards someone else, and to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't compare killing someone else, taking the life of someone, as being as "wrong" morally than watching pornography and masturbating. I'm sorry, I know my arguments are weak, I'm terribly tired and I'm nowhere smart enough to properly feed this debate, all I wanna say is that I think that "How can you deal with an addiction if you don't know that it can harm you so much." would be a very valid point if PMO was nowhere near being considered an addiction by our society. I think it never has been, it's not a problem of our era, when it has been in the past it was for the most part religious and not health related. I agree with you though, a warning might be nice and change things a tiny bit in the beginning. I don't have anything against porn, I'm sorry, the fact that it destroyed my life and lead me to suicide attempts is not for me a reason to prevent others to watch it. I miss it. I'll never watch it again but I do miss it. About your governments parts, I know nothing and will never know anything about politics, I can't say anything :)

EDIT: forgot to finish my sentence wtf I'm so tired

Yeah I don't really "hate" porn as well. Sure it has done considerable amounts of damage to me but I can't blame someone else for my action. My disapproval was mainly towards humanity and it's refusal to improve as a wholesome community. Porn is just a part of the bigger picture. We get swept in so insignificant daily routines that have zero to no contribution of the improvement of society. And they continue on until something drastic happens. Instead of governments or parents teaching us how to live life we must often reach a bottom low and out of desperation maby look for the light. By light I mean community like this which lets you recover. But will you truly recover the damage has already been done. The word needs to be spread in a better way. I may be damaged but I wouldn't want other people in the future to be damaged also.
