State and revolution - Vladimir Lenin

the ideas are pretty out there and you pretty much need to know about marxist ideas to begin with but Lenin write in a way that makes it very easy to understand so 7/10

"have a little faith - a true story" by Mitch Albom 10/10
I really liked this book. Admittingly, I didn't understand any of the sermon anecdotes by Albert Lewis, but his one-on-one conversations with Mitch (the author) were fantastic. He was able to squeeze complicated ideas into just a couple of sentences. The story of the church congregation was also nice.

 

Well now I'm hooked on Mitch Albom's books.
The Time-Keeper - 7/10
The writing's great. The plot really draws you in. The ending, though, was a bit of a downer. I mean, the way the plot was tied together at the end wasn't as climactic as the build-up. Oh well.

 

Neuromancer by Some Guy I Forgot. Pure cyberpunk. 4/5.

 

OCA: Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide By Jeanne Boyarski - 9/10

Amazing for preparing for the OCA examination or just wanting better understandment of Java.

 

Finally reading The Lord of the Rings (never seen the films, so i'm not kidding when I say please don't spoil anything), just finished the first book of The Two Towers. Absolutely phenomenal, but it dragged on a bit at the end. Not a lot, but a bit - ending the book on a bunch of exposition was a different direction from what I was used to with the first two books - especially with how exciting the whole rest of the book was. Still, something like a 4.95/5.

 

I also haven't read or seen the movies. I read The Hobbit once, didn't like it. Dragged way too much.

 

The Hobbit, unlike The Lord of the Rings, was intended as a children's book, so it makes sense it would be a little bit less compelling than the main LotR saga. I remember liking The Hobbit as a kid but probably wouldn't enjoy it so much now. Absolutely loving the main saga though.

I just completed "10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works" the other day and it was just what I needed. Been kinda stressed lately and I guess I needed to get back to meditation. I gave it a four out of five on Goodreads.

 

Yes that's where I found out about him myself. I started listening to his podcast, don't remember what it's called; but you can find him on Spotify I think. Then I found his book in the library a week ago by coincidence. It seemed like fate haha. I need something for my stress, to be able to de-stress. So now I've started meditating again. Getting a routine together. Will tell you more about that later!
