I don't know what to do.
Previously my streaks would be 15 to 35 days. Now they are 1-2 days. I've got into that mindset of I might as well give in/screw up because I know it's going to happen sooner or later so why not?
I guess my hope and belief that I could get to 90 days has gone after three years of trying.
Any advice would be great - thanks everyone!

    Hey John.

Im actually going through the same thing as you are. After going through streaks of 30 days, i always relapse and end up binging myself to the point where i forget why i even started this journey.

I think that you really need to stay focused. I guess for me is that, i always relapsed after the days i have one too many to drink. With my inhibitions at my lowest, my animal desire for dopamine and pleasure kicks in and uncontrollable. Even after my relapse at this point, i am not even fully aware of the damages i do to my reboot process or i think i try not to think about it.

What I am trying to say is that we are all here with you, and its one step at a time. Just never give up. We all have differernt lifestyle and different habits. But it is crucial to start thinking of ways to resolve the cues and bad habits that always trigger us.

John I hope that you dont lose hope, and that no matter what whether you relapse, you will be a much better self without pmo addiction in your life. If you need some book recommendations that have helped me out a lot, read the power of now and the secret.

    Take care.

That is a wrong mindset. Your mindset should be, I'm done with PMO for life. No n-days challenge mentality will do. Once you tell your brain PMO is off the table and you mean it, you'll start seeing improvements with less and less relapses. It's how our brains work. If PMO is still on the table, you say to your mind, just hold on x number of days, you'll get your dopamine fix again soon. That creates cravings and your own mind starts to play tricks on you. If your brain knows that PMO is not an option anymore it will first freak out (withdrawals) and then slowly start to seek alternatives to PMO. That's the time when you have to offer your body healthy highly dopamine rewarding substitutes like exercising, meditating, socializing in real life or you're at high risk of relapsing or developing some other form of harmful addiction (cross addiction).

Thanks, man, I appreciate the wise words and I will check out out the Power of Now for sure. Good advice to watch the drinking/lower inhibitions, too. Good luck with your journey my friend!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'm really grateful, you are so right that there is no middle ground - no point in hitting reset unless PMO is really and truly off the table, no ifs, no buts. And great advice re: healthy dopamine substitutes - thank you!
