I'm back to start again

    Hey,

I'm not sure how common this is, but I remember joining this forum back in 2015. I remember being really excited to join and to start my new life. But then life got busy, and noFap got kind of swept to the side. In the mean time, my fap issues never really went away.

A lot has changed for me since I first joined here. I'm now married and have two beautiful children. I'm finishing up a graduate degree, and looking to further my education. For a couple of years, my life was moving so fast, I was just trying to keep up. While I knew my fapping issue was holding me back, I thought that I was managing it. The problem is that life never slows down. With the increased stress of family life and school, I have found myself on Porn sights and fapping more often. While in the short term it has seemed to help mitigate my stress, it's starting to affect my life in a lot of other ways. I'm not as present with my children as I want to be. I've had to extend my education because I'm not able to keep up with deadlines. I'm starting to fail on commitments with others, and overall I feel that I have fallen into what feels like a semi-depressed state.

I want to kickstart my life again, and getting back into noFap where I need to start. I have some goals that I want to get accomplish, and porn and fapping is simply getting in the way of what's important. Here are some of my goals:

1: Be more present with my wife and children
    2: Finish Grad school strong
3: Run a marathon (I didn't really touch on this, but running has become an important part of my life in the last couple of years. It's not only been a great stress reliever, but has helped me focus my goals and keep off of fapping, I'll probably have to write another post about it sometime).
    4:Boost self confidence

Thanks so much if you have read this far. I am currently looking for an accountability partner (or partners), and want to make my involvement here a regular thing.

  2. Welcome back. NoFap isn't a website. It's an alternative lifestyle decision.

Welcome back. I also fell off the wagon 30 minutes ago so you are not the only one coming back. Just never stop trying and you will succeed that way

    Hey man,

Issues like this don't tend to fade away like growing out of childhood habits or something like having a blanket or sucking a thumb.

I mean real changes need to occur to see this disappear I believe.

  5. Welcome back! We have a lot in common. I have a wife and kids, I have a masters degree and I also like running. I actually ran a marathon earlier this year. I’ve run 4 over the past 20 years.

I’ve been on NoFap since last December and I’ve made slow and steady progress. I was addicted to porn about 10 years ago but was able to break free. I’m here because I felt myself slipping into bad habits again. I have a masturbation and fetishes addiction. I haven’t indulged in fetishes in over a year and I masturbate on average once every 3-4 weeks, a year ago it was once every 1-2 weeks.

I know that you can overcome this problem if you’re committed enough.

    Take care.

Thanks for the support, it does sound like we have a bit in common! How'd the marathon go? I just ran a half-marathon earlier this month for the first time. It felt good to accomplish that.

Nice accomplishment! That distance isn't a joke. Marathons are only for certain types of people I feel. Or even just people with something to prove. Like when I was a few years younger I was looking at ultramarathons or this one they have in the dead of winter here locally. Maybe I should look at it this year just to punish myself for my recent sins? Severely punish. 75 miles in the middle of winter. Or I'll just brush it off or forget.

Edit: I mean I just skipped the idea of the local marathon they have here every year for some reason like wouldn't that be the thing to start with? Or the half marathon even. Why jump into an ultramarathon?

Marathons aren't for me at the end of the day I'm gonna say. I'll train hard but not running that far.

  10. It went well thanks! It was tough (as can be expected) but I finished so that’s what counts. I always just run to finish, I don’t necessarily run for time, just distance and endurance.

That’s great! It’s fun to set goals and accomplish things we’ve never done before. I find that pushing my limits with other goals that test our resolve also help us be more committed in our NoFap goals.

HAHA! This is the only way I run! I move like a turtle stuck in molasses in the middle of winter! Despite that, it's still one of my favourite things to do. I went for an 8 km (5 mile) run yesterday, and while I was out I felt like there was a lot of parallels between my noFap journey and running. I'm hoping I can take some of the lessons I've learned from one and apply to the other!

  13. Yes! I do that a lot of times too when I run. Especially when it’s tough and I have to just put one foot in front of the other and eventually I’ll make it.
