How long will it take to rewire? And how will I know?

  1. Everyone is different- i think you need to experiment - how often do you exercise, especially walking and exposing yourself to nature?
Some people st. john's wort works, for others holy basil - for omega 3s make sure its a quality source, like fish/cod oil and try to take by the teaspoon not capsule...
    Some therapy might help.
Also do some research on the side effects of ADs - they can really f*** you up.

These comments on Withdrawls are damn scary....I had a streak of 100 days of no MO and I did not face any...Maybe I was a little bit into P....I got over the streak with a wet dream and went back to habit...I'm doing this to get rid of issues such as low energy, confidence and anxiety but if these are some of withdrawl symptoms it does scare me especially the Panic attack. I had couple of them 4 years back when I was on prime of fapping and they are scary....Is there anyone who has overcome this addiction without many withdrawl symptom....Also I want to know the intensity of these withdrawl...I mean it sounds like some drug like heroine cocaine withdrawl....

Many people, for what i read, experience little withdrawals, or short withdrawals.

But honestly i don't think those people were really addicted, that's just my idea.

Many people only talks about superpowers, incredible things which i doubt in part, but not everybody talks about the withdrawal symptoms.

Or maybe i am just in a bad situation and my withdrawals are particularly bad, i don't know.

    1. Just read this post online, and thought others may benefit from it also to know what lies ahead.

To be clear, this is not my own work, and I have copy & pasted itfromhttp://husbandhelphaven.com/porn-addiction-withdrawal-walkthrough/

      12-Week Porn AddictionWithdrawal Walkthrough
      [IMG]

Do you feel worse now that you’ve stopped looking at porn?

Knowing what to expect when you’re going through porn addiction withdrawal iscrucial to fighting temptation. When youunderstandwhat your body is going to throw at you, it’s a lot easier to say, “This isnormal and I just have to getthrough it.”

If you know anyone who’s ever tried to quit smoking, these withdrawal symptoms will look pretty familiar. Studies have shownthat withdrawalfrom porn and masturbation is just as severe aswithdrawal from heroin or cocaine.

As you continue reading, you’ll get a day-by-day walk-through of the most common stages of porn addictionwithdrawal.

1 to 7 Days Without Porn
The first thing that happens when you quit is that your Dopamine levelstake a nose-dive. As you learned about in the Porn Addiction Symptoms article, Dopamine isthechemical your brain surges into yoursystem every time you look at porn.

In these first few days, your brain is literally in shock.

Many men start experiencing these withdrawal symptoms within 48 hours of quitting:
      • Grumpiness – Every little thing will irritate you. For me, I became extremely cynical about everything around me.
      • Mood swings – As your brain tries to rebalance itself, you’ll feel like a teenage girl having her first period… Happy one minute and on the verge oftears the next. Seriously.
      • Headaches – I didn’t ever experience intense migraineslike some men report, but I didget subtle pressure headaches that lasted for hours at a time.
      • Anxiety – Some men have legitimate panic attacks, but Iexperienced this more as a general feeling of stress. From the first three days for the next three months, I always felt likeI had way too much to do.
      • Pornographic Thoughts – Temptation during the first week is extremely intense. This is because your lastpornographic experience is still fresh on your mind. We’ll talk more about this below.
      The Seven-Day Craving
Can you quit looking at porn for an entire week?

For most men reading this, the answer is no. The classic test ofaddiction is whether or not you can make it a full seven days without even looking at porn. That’s becauseof the Seven-Day Craving, a classic pitfall for first-time quitters.

The Seven-Day Craving is exactly what it sounds like… You’ll usually experience very intense cravings around Day 7 without looking atporn. For some men, you’ll get your 7-Day Craving at Day 21. For some men, it’ll come at Day 5 and last ‘til Day 10.

1 to 3 Weeks Without Porn
Congratulations! You made it pastthe first week. You’ve still got a long road ahead of you, but you shouldstill pat yourself on the back for making it this far.

These are the most common symptoms men report after the initial one-week hump:
      • Zombie-like State – Because your brain has been deprivedof its regular Dopamine highs, it’s common for abstainers to enter a sluggish, zombie-like state. Expect low energy levels to last anywhere from two weeks to two months.
      • Unable to Focus – I could notwork efficiently in the first few weeks after I quit. Theconstant fatigue somehowmade me feel restless, and things that normally took 30minutes were now taking an hour. I had no motivation and no focus.
      • Social Awkwardness– It’shard to accurately describe this symptom, but many men echoed that they felt awkward or exposed in social settings. It feels like you constantly have your foot in your mouth.
      • Low Sex Drive – You might expect your sex drive to bebursting at the seams after going without porn for a week or two, but many men report the exact opposite. Although porn will still ignite temptation when you think about it, any other sexual activity may not sound appealing while yourbrain reboots.
      • Loneliness – This website is mostly tailored towardsmarried men, but you single men especially will have trouble with this one. You’ll experience loneliness, and you’ll want to escape it withporn. Don’t give in!
4 to 8 Weeks Without Porn
28 days without any porn or masturbation is when about 50% ofmen start feeling the initial porn addiction withdrawals start to go away.

For the rest of you, keep going, you’re relief is just a few weeks away!

Heavily addicted men will probablyneed another month or two. Even ifyou still struggle with withdrawal symptoms, by now you’ve at least gotten used to going through eachday without porn. Looking at it is no longer a habit.

Here’s what’s happening in yourbrain right now:
The “layers” of addicting Delta Fos-B which built up in your brain due to repeated Dopamine overdosing arestarting to disintegrate. Your brain is it essentially re-wiring itself to function with normal levels of Dopamine.

Here are some specific withdrawals to look out for from days 30 to 60:
      • Random Temptation– Therehave been so many times that I’ve made it to four or five weeks without looking at porn, only to have a single bad day that sent me hurtling back into relapse.
      • Bursts of Overwhelming Emotion– You may be reading a book, looking out the windowor lying in bed when suddenly you feel yourself tearing up about nothing in particular.
      • Insomnia – Men who wereheavily addicted to porn for a long time are the most likely to experience insomnia in thisstage of recovery. Insomnia due to withdrawal is nearlyimpossible to treat, and over-the-counter sleep aids probably won’t do much to help.
      • Depression – Again, not all men will suffer from depression, and some may experience it much earlier inthe withdrawal process. It’s not uncommon for this depression to last several weeks, but it always goes away eventually.
      2 Months & Beyond
If you’ve made it two solid months without looking at porn at all, thenyou’re starting to notice some definite improvements in your life.
      • You’re starting to feel happier
      • Your sex drive is coming back in a healthy way
      • You have more energy and focus than ever before
      • Your marriage actually feels fulfilling and your wife looksgorgeous
The longest that I’ve ever heard porn addiction withdrawal symptoms last without any relapse is seven months. That was in a 45 year-old man who’d been looking at porn multiple times a day for thirty years.

For me, four months without porn was the turning point for my withdrawal symptoms, but it took me two miserable years to get there.

That’s why there’s one thing that youabsolutely must remember at all times:

      Never
      Ever
      Let Your Guard Down

Temptation could come at any turn, and years down the road you maystill face a spark of temptation every now and then. But if you can keepyourself away from porn without any relapse for a full two months, Iguarantee you’ll start noticing some changes.

You are 33 so I guess the masturbation habit are not greater than 20 years. I'm 28 and have masturbated long so then I may also have similar withdrawl symptom. I am actually a positive guy. I quit smoking being a mild smoker for 3-4 years and those cravings were interesting. so waiting for these with a positive attitude. I'm hoping that a bit of Yoga and breathing exercise might help me....Search anulom vilom which is breathing from alternate nostril. I'm not sure but this takes away the anxiety and depression from me in my normal life...hope this will help me. Actually try and see if this helps with the depression. Do it 5 min atleast...Rest the symptoms in the thread are scary...let me see when they start to affect and how well i fight..

I exercised almost daily and eat healthy until I had one panic attack. Then I felt cautious and somewhat fearful of it.

It matters more how young you started; guys who started young normally take longer than others. 11 years is a long time on its own though, it might take a while.

I'm relatively new on nofap, so I can't really answer your question. However, I strongly advice that you (in case you don't) make a serious effort in working out, eating healthy, sleeping 8 to 10 hours, drinking plenty of water, pursuing a creative hobby and reading books. Those things will help you combat the withdrawal symptoms. I wish you success in this journey.

  12. It's matters more how severe were you addicted and how many times you were doing it. My estimation would be 18 to 24 months hardmode of sobriety. The worst is 3 years max.
Keep in mind recovery is a non linear process. Sometimes you might get a break from withdrawal symptoms, then get hit later on...

Um I am pretty sure PMO isn't your issue there dude. over a year and your still that way? I think your just a shy person lol. You need to go to a therapist. You still blame PMO even at that age for being depressed, and socially awkward and afraid? Seems your in denial of your real issue.

  16. Somebody heavily addicted to pmo for 10 years, 6 months is a joke bro. I was doing it for 7 years and im still rebooting(15mo hardmode). There are others as well on this forum who were severe and their reboot last 14 to 24 months. Worst case scenario 30 to 36 months.
