I'm really triggered right now, and can't come out of it. Need help please!!

  1. Lady SO of a PA, my PTSD got triggered cause of stupid fucking betrayal trauma, so as the title says, I'm incredibly triggered right now and I'm struggling to calm myself down, and get...uh..."un-triggered" I guess. These are the symptoms I'm experiencing: I feel light-headed and kind of dizzy, and I'm starting to get a headache, and my chest is so, so tight, and I feel like I can barely breathe, and it feels like there is this immense pressure surrounding my heart, and it's just squeezing it and it's stupid painful. My body is SO tense, and my muscles are so tight, and my stomach is cramping up, and tied into knots. My eyes feel heavy, and they sting and are sore and blurry.

    I'm trying to do some deep breathing exercises, taking in a deep breath slowly, holding it for about 10 seconds, and then exhaling through my mouth really slowly but it's not really helping...Does anyone have any suggestions or techniques I could try out?? I don't know which is more agonizingly painful, my mental pain, or my physical pain...either way, they both suck. Please help!!!

    You could try cold shower and exercise. But getting a short nap would be the best, again I'm not a doctor, neither do I know too much about female body but this would help.

    Ice cold shower and maybe put some icy-hot/Ben Gay/Mineral Ice on your dick and balls. For sure the Ben gay on your genitals will take any "horniness" straight out of them.

    All jokes aside i think this would be a good aversion therapy. Im going to go out and buy some and have it on hand

    EDIT: Sorry did not realize you are female. Not sure what to recommend other than an ice cold shower and to get your mind busy on something else. Try pressing an ice pack to your groin or a frozen bag of peas or frozen pack of hot dogs.

  4. Uh...I'm a woman...I'm a SO of a PA, and the PTSD I have because of his PA was triggered...I figured since I posted this in Partner Support for SOs of PAs, my being a woman would've been obvious haha I should edit my post and add that in to be on the safe side

    I work/train my dogs or horses.... gets me immersed in the challenge/connection with my animal. Not sure if u have pets but teaching them tricks is cool too. Works every time for me

    Im so sorry you are going through this. Are you getting any help for healing through your betrayal trauma? There are a couple of websites specifically for spouses of porn and sex addicts, with trained coaches and therapists and programs to help you. Much of the content is free.

    I would also recommend trying to find an in person therapist local to you that is trained in betrayal trauma.
