Hi all, I have recently relapsed after a 60 day streak and have been looking over my recovery plan to see how I could lessen the chances of relapsing again.

What I havent used before is a serious consequence for relapsing - like a accountable consequence.

I was thinking like putting my money where my mouth is and donating £50 if I relapse again - I just need a cause.

Or have you guys got any consequences of your own which might be better

    thanks

What helped a lot for me is to study M. If you gain knowledge about the problem, you can re-wire your brain with new learned information, and beat the problem once and for all. For an example: your playing a video game and M is the devil. Only with upgrading your skills (brain), you can become a higher level and a better player, which is able to defeat the devil.

Putting money on something leads most of the time to just a negative mindset. Even when you do relapse, how high is the chance you also really put money in some kind of bowl. Next to this, if your unable to control the urge at some points, no consequence is able to stop it. Its better to handle the problem by its roots (in the brain), then fighting the consequences. Because the problem will still exist then.

Aye, thanks for the reply, I understand where you are coming from - I have had read YourBrainonPorn and have a good understanding of the effects porn has on the brain. But unfortunately, in the moment, the brain has no regard for these affects. If I had a consequence where I would let someone know about what I am committed to if I relapse then it may provide an extra deterrent - nobody likes losing money! This is not what I will use on its own but combine it will regular check ins, rewards for milestones and growing more positive habits like meditation and exercise
