I'm fairly famous that's why I will post this under this pseudonym.

I came across NoFap community 7 months ago, when someone I truly loved parted from me. For those who do not know what it is, well, it is a phenomenon of promoting abstinence from sexual activities and internet porn for a better and mindful life. After a detailed research and reading, I decided to make it part of my daily routine for 4 months. During which, I took note of all the changes I felt in myself as "new" and "strange", and how it effected my daily life and career. This Post will hopefully help you and answer your questions, just as I had 7 months ago.

Before we begin, and if you decide to purse this challenge, know that taking this as a challenge is the worst thing you can do to it, or for anything long-lasting in life, because mind is not programmed for challenges but rather routines and lifestyle; thus, taking continuous challenges, you might say, in your life then becomes a habit, a routine and a lifestyle so to speak, not a challenge itself.

My first month, just as after any major change in life was very different and difficult to begin with. So much so that, I even had an urge for incest. I was mad; years of PMO was playing its part, cursing me when I showed it the door. First month was the hardest, and the longest too; it teaches you how to be persistence and give your mind orders, instead of the other way around as usual.

Second month; I write, “I am more relaxed, less temptations and way more energetic.” I also started having wet dreams for the first time in my life, which felt more like periods to me. In later months, I got used to them by having once every 2 weeks, which did, as a matter of fact, made me really upset since I was trying to retain sperm for the "superpowers".

Last 2 months were very relaxed. I was way more in-control of myself, very practical and did get a lot of attention and facial glow; I only later realized this was because being horny, so to speak, makes you more attractive to the opposite gender, just as women during their most fertile phase of the month.

However, since I was used to of being a really productive teen, I started noticing some strange changes here. I was now more tense, aggressive, and had a foggy vision. Contrary to main idea of the challenge, I was in fact diverged from my goal which I was pursing more confidently before doing this. After 2 months in this challenge, there was growth in my career. My mind was now subconsciously more focused on trying to stop my urges, temptations and looking for a girlfriend than ever before. I had also stopped having dreams and become a bit hopeless towards life.

Four months over, and by now I had completely lost any urge to masturbate (in other words, lost my libido) or even look at porn, thus, I very much intentionally did so, to note any noticeable difference.

You see, here's the reality, and why I am leaving half of the challenge here, not because of the urges but put simply, because of my experience and plain logic.

Let's be honest here: There are no "superpowers", its only your mind reacting to your new attitude towards life and your routine, and you noticing these changes even more, as I mentioned in the beginning. This happens after any major change in life until novelty fades.

Point is, MO is not, or at least should be your way to achieve big in life, a girlfriend for instance like many on this forum. No matter what, it is, in the end, forcing yourself; a challenge that will keep coming back, however, your mind will never make it a habit since its not how it's meant to work. Sex is a hunger; not a sin, not a shame, but a plain hunger which never fully satiates as it is nature's response to reproduce, just as everything else around us. The only shame will be in not admitting it.

Masturbation, either scientifically or after months of experience, is just fine to me; a natural response to your urges until you get someone to share that intimacy. The sperm theory; testosterone and all that is plain bluff; it is not true, either scientifically or exercising it for yourself.

However, I did find porn just as described on this forum, and left it for good. Its new, and in fact we are not even familiar with it's impact on our society and minds yet. It's staged no doubt, which not only makes it dangerous to our fantasies but also evolution in the long haul, just as said by the founder of this community. Alexander Rhodes has frequently been found raising voice against the internet porn, however, rarely against masturbation itself.

Speaking as someone who was just as enthusiast in the beginning to get even more attention, have "superpowers", and somehow magically excel in life as you now, I will suggest you go ahead and find your answers for yourself.

My advice, however, will always be to stay close to the nature. Masturbation has not effected human progress in millions of years. Even Bonobo, the closest animal to human and among others are found doing it on regular basis, however, never found watching porn, though I would love to see that one day.

Porn, far from any doubt, in plain words is fake, meaningless and cheap, everything that should not be part of your decent life. Masturbation, however, is not, and may continue to remain a healthy part of your lifestyle, even later in life.

Nicely written. I agree with the part where P is harmful and M is natural. However, I do think that the "sperm theory" that you've mentioned is false. There are research that have been done in proving that sperm retention increases your testosterone level. Here's one such research (Endocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm in healthy men following a 3-week sexual abstinence.). I'd say that P is harmful no matter how you look at it. For those who are heavily addicted to PMO, they'll probably have to abstain from M as well for considerable amount of time in order to rewire their brain because let's face it, a heavy PMO addict would not be able to get off without thinking about P.

  3. Hi man, I agree with you regarding porn but not masturbation. I view masturbation as a distortion of human sexuality. However I am respectful of other people thinking differently.
Your post is interesting. Please continue to post on this website. Good luck.

  4. Hi randomguy, I agree 100% with what you have written. A heavy PMO addict, which I am, can't ejaculate without porn. At the very least they need to access their mental harem to do so!
One interacts with the other. This at least has been my experience.

Great post! There are some things I want to elaborate on though. The part about there are no super powers and it just being the mind. It's a little more complicated than that. For those who were truly addicted to PMO, it is also the brain itself that heals. Parts of the brain that were damaged play a huge part in the "superpowers" people experience. With that I also say that the superpowers are how it feels to be a normal person in society and that addiction and mainly porn with EXCESSIVE masturbation has been robbing us for those feelings for years. I'm past 300 days of living the NoFap lifestyle right now and this post motivated me to go 400 days plus! Thank you.

Not placebo in my opinion. Its an energy thing. Remember that the sexual energy is the most powerful energy in the universe, is for the propagation of the species, and obviously the nature is very interested in propagate us.

This very powerful liquid will manifest itself to the world if you keep it with you. Only a week of retaining will show you drastical changes in anybodys life, specially if you used to eyaculate constantly. After a week of retaining the changes are very evident in my opinion, specially in social situations.

    Not placebo, definitely.
