How to not give up to urges (not porn related)?

How do I prevent myself from doing these "bad things"?
I mean, whenever I tell myself that I would like to get those two beers from the store I will end up doing this 9 times out of 10. This mostly happens on bad days or when I'm feeling bad about myself or feel like not doing anything productive.
This thinking is catching me in the middle of the day or even late evening when it's like I already decide I gonna do X. And it stays in my mind for the rest of the day.
Got any solution for this kind of problem? Perhaps some of you were struggling with urges (alcohol, cigarettes or drugs) like me before?

Listen to me my man. I would recommend giving up on the beers and smoking. I am 21 and have never drank alcohol, smoked, or done drugs. I believe they are not only harmful to your physical health, but can lead to mental health problems as well such as going to PMO. Your mind is trying to get you to do bad stuff since you've received pleasure from doing such. Dopamine and serotonin have found shortcuts to your brain and your mind wants that. Tell me, would you feel better jacking off to some pixelated screen where you feel pleasure for 2 seconds and then feel like crap for the rest of the days? Or would you rather work your ass off, kick this addiction's ass, and get yourself a car/girl of your dreams? The second option would feel better, because you are getting a real reward and not a fake one. You can kick this addiction's ass my man, I believe in you. Get rid of any substances and you will be one with yourself and you will feel all sorts of different emotions every single day. It's amazing!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. And I'm well aware of the fact that it's better to actually work on your goals and generally better myself.
But there are days where I'm tired or just not in a good mood so my brain, as you mention, get those shortcuts to get instant gratification or something. And that's where I give up to urges and drink this alcohol. As I'm writing this post I'm finishing my beer. I know that I said to myself several times that I should not do this because it really brings me nothing. Is sipping beer more important to me than my own goals and aspirations or life overall? It feels kinda terrible

I could have used porn as an escape when I was feeling down. Instead of doing that, I just felt the emotions. You can cry them out too if you want. Going outside is also something really good for the body and refreshes you. Maybe a nap? I don't need any substance to make me feel good. I make myself feel good. Also, did you know that if you smile more in general that you will feel a lot happier? Look it up. If you smile a lot more just for no reason you will be a happier individual because your receptors sense that you are happy and they release serotonin. Completely natural and not a short cut. Going to the gym as well and maybe working on a hobby can help you quit these addictions. I worked on model cars my first few weeks of no PMO. I liked it and it took my mind off the devil's playground. I think you can quit these sorts of addictions man, I really believe in you.
