Insomnia and temptation

    ok, so I am 21 days into hard mode and I am experiencing some problems with sleep. I’ll get about 2-3 hrs of sleep then wake up and not be able to fall back to sleep. It’s been going on about a week now and I am tired all the time. Is this normal? Has anyone else gone through sleep disturbances? Also, my typical way of dealing with this is MO, so there’s been the temptation to go with the old habit. I’ resisted, prayed for strength and by the grace of God, staying strong. But obviously I am worried about becoming exhausted and failing just to get some sleep. Please help!

    Hello Matt. I have experienced such a thing and I know how painful and stressing this can be. If you drink coffee on a daily basis try to cut it back. secondly, stop using the mobile phone 1 hour earlier before bed. And these are very helpful tools and techniques I used that satisfied me and made me sleep like a baby.

    1- Meditate before bed (any meditation will do). (Search for sleeping meditation on youtube or google)
    2- Exercise earlier ( Exercise during the day makes it easier for you to sleep at night, but spiking your heart rate too close to bedtime will keep you tossing and turning.)
    3- Take a warm shower before bed (You'll usually sleep like a baby)
    4- Go to sleep at about the same time each night, and wake up at the same time each morning (Just create a healthy routine. routine is the most important thing when it comes to sleep)

    Ok, I’ve been resisting any sort of pills or meds...but maybe using a temporary over the counter med can help...it’s worth a try to get some rejuvenating sleep and tone down the temptation to MO. Thanks!

    I feel the same way.. but until you get better, I don't feel it's a bad idea to temporarily use sleeping aids. Insomnia is one of the symptoms of Abstinence. And it'll pass. Once it does, than you could quit the sleep aids. They're not addictive. Sleep is far too important and not getting enough makes Nofap that much harder.

    Ok really good advice. I’ve definitely noticed I have a caffeine problem too. I guess I like the mental stimulation. Been thinking about cutting out caffeinated drinks altogether. Thanks for all of the tips. I will apply these and see how it goes.

    Right, right. I agree. I am concerned that I’ll slip into MO because I am tired and just give up. This reboot is really important to me, so I’ll use all the advice given here!

    A trick I like to do is to consciously make the decision to stay awake. The mind is a fickle little thing, and I find that as soon as I commit to staying awake, I'll think about stories, or what I'm going to do the next day and bang. Out like a light.

    You could try CBD oil. Apparently its really good at calming down the nervous system which helps with sleep.
