Thanks for asking about this. Even though I said it wasn’t about political correctness, the widely accepted way to refer to them these days is ‘sex worker’. But honestly that’s besides the point. The point was the manner in which they were talking about her in general. Basically like she was a thing and not a person.

  4. Don’t want to take away from this thread’s focus—- but when the female author (Sarah) is assuming all prostitutes have pimps or ponces—- I don’t know if that’s true in the uk, but it is not true worldwide.

Consequently I dare say This opinion is not very widely shared ; I doubt many prostitutes read or concur with the ideas expressed in the statesmen.

[There’s overflowing irony in just saying the title of the magazine...]

As for why prostitute is a slur, it’s not necessarily a slur but it can be made into one. That’s what the other thread was.

Just like the term “boy” is not a slur but when said to a black man by a younger white man, it becomes one. Just like any other number of slurs.

What does boy being or not being a slur have to do with skin colour? As far as I see it the word has nothing to do with persons race.

  6. My dad (who is black and been all over the US) told me that back in the segregation days in the south all white men called blacks “boy” or the N-word. No matter the age difference and no matter how old or young the black person was.

Many blacks (not me) still take offense to it and consider it a racial slur.

  7. The reason why it’s a slur is due to its history. The racist white men who called blacks “boy” in the south were doing it to diminish and dismiss them as being lower than them due to their skin color.

To clarify though what’s being said isn’t that the word “boy” is always a slur. There are key things that matter when factoring intent which would be context and circumstance. A white man who calls both black and white subordinates “boy” wouldn’t be considered racist.

@Castielle you want this site moderated like it’s a forum on better homes and gardens or ESPN The Magizine.

It’s actually basically an online support group for beating porn addictions.

Your judgment on what is sexist is inconsistent at best, but you seem sure your judgment is sound and self evident.

My biggest complaint with your approach has never been answered. You seem concerned with creating more acceptable posts on a forum, not helping posters on a forum become better people with a healthier view on life.

Misogyny does not give people a healthier view on life.

I never said it did. But kindly suggesting a healthier view in a thread helps. Ranting in here and speaking with a broad brush doesn’t.

Some of you are too sensitive as well. Hit report and if nothing happens it’s probably not the issue you think it is.

What you really want to do is to stop sexism... posting your opinion in a private forum where people come and go.
    Ha! good luck with that.

Don't waste your time, just accept it and attack it with other approach and strategy. Go and create and lead a campaign about gender self-empowerment. Teach other women that they are more than they believe, help them take actions that gives them more protagonism in our society: Teach them that they can study hard sciences as well as men. Teach them to do sports more often and compete in major leagues, teach them that they should not follow the concepts of "women" that the media intend to write on our mindsets, teach them than men are not their enemy, and that women should not try to demand acceptance from them, but to apport to our society so everyone can see how important and valuable you are.

Oh wait... you do not want to do that? You dont have time for that... oh well... keep whining then.

  12. Well I mean, yeah. Obviously that would be cool. But I'm aware that's not possible.

What I want here is for the rules of the forum to be enforced. That's it. I've made that abundantly clear.

  13. Excuse you? You don't know me at all. Who says I'm not doing those things?

This is such an idiotic strawman. Doing all of those things has nothing to do with this thread. You can do all of those things, and still want the moderators of this forum to enforce the rules against misogyny. Why does it have to be either or? You just don't want to have to change yourself, or sexist men to have to change themselves. You want all the burden to be put on the women to just basically get over it and stop "whining."

Seriously, people, just freaking imagine someone saying that to a black person trying to combat racism, on a forum that has a rule against racist posts, and see how utterly absurd of an argument that is.

Ohhh okay, I thought it was meant as some kind of a "there can't be slurs against white people" -thingy. But yeah, now I totally get it.

You know, actually you have all the reasons to be mad. I'm not arguing with you, sorry if I gave that impression.

I just say: don't waste your time with that, I mean... you are right and all, but try to make others understand my point of view and actually convince them with fervor, again, it's seem like a waste of time.

Why? Because of the nature of this site:
    - The main idea of this web is to give all the wackers out there a place to encourage between them to stop wacking around. This is not a web about political correctness...
    - The admins of this site are people that have the commitment to help wackers to stop wacking around. (haha) Not to teach them about how wrong is misoginy.

If you really have the need to change the mind of all these people one post at a time... well... good luck, sincerely. But for me, it's just a waste of time. Sorry if I'm too impertinent with your thread.

(Just for the record: no, I'm not being sarcastic)

  16. Except there is a rule against misogynistic posts here. So... yes, the moderators job IS to handle misogynistic posts. That is literally part of their job.

That's not what I'm trying to do at all.

  17. Thanks for the clarification. It definitely sounded like you were arguing, and acting like I'm just whining and not doing anything real and helpful. Which is ridiculous, because you don't know literally anything about me or how I spend my time IRL.

Why are you doing this to yourself? That is the question I asked myself at the beginning of this year. You may recall, I have had issues going back some time with the way moderation is practiced on this site. :( I also used to spend a lot of time in the off topic section. I have not abandoned it, but I do not get embroiled with arguments, disputes or flame-wars (select whatever one feels right). My experience of the site has been enhanced greatly since reducing drastically the time I used to spend discussing things that were unrelated to porn and masturbation and were even detrimental to my recovery.

You may also remember that things got so damaging to my mental wellbeing that I left the site temporarily more than once. I always did so with regret and after cooling off from the kind of frustration and anger you are experiencing, I was able to return with a more balanced outlook. I suggest you consider something similar. For example, you could return in the new year and may do so refreshed. But to stay here feeling as you do is counterintuitive. please look after yourself.

    Best wishes, IGY

  19. Thanks, IGY. I am looking after myself, don't worry. I really haven't even been on the forums much lately, aside from this thread. I'm doing just fine. Been busy writing and working on my new book release. I'm very happy :) this thread isn't my whole life or anything.
