Hey guys, I just want to ask you something that matters right now. Are there any certain correlations between "Testosterone" level and Porn consumption?

The reason I am asking is, am having mood swings most of the time when on a recovery progress.. could this be a reason?

  2. Testosterone can be a factor is mood, but doing self diagnosis like this without actually knowing what your testosterone is makes no sense.

Mood is regulated by allot of things, and behavior changes in general lead to mood instability until new habits are formed.

And do you think recovery helps testosterone levels to get its normal levels? Or is not there any correlation between porn and testosterone?

  4. Some research shows increase in testosterone from fairly long abstinence(2-3 weeks) however I had hard time finding specifics on what happened before the "break" and what happened when person resumes sexual activity. So I consider these findings questionable.
Sexual activity increases testosterone levels and so does masturbation, which is why I assume men become more aggressive during sex. You can find verity of studies that show increase in testosterone during sex and masturbation that remains long after the activity.
Do not ask me for links to studies, open search engine and search - they are not hidden, easy to find. Just do not read some bloggers interpretation of the results, read the original study.

Because sex increases testosterone levels, I would guess that person not participating in sexual activity will have gradual reduction in testosterone levels which is then corrected by some mechanism at 2-3 weeks, that also makes sense.

In general body keeps normal testosterone levels on its own, same as any other hormone as long as diet is good. Levels can change for short time but self regulation will bring them back to amount body considers normal.
All our hormones are maintained in specific range automatically and testosterone is no exception.

I get it. So thanks for the information. I will go over it, that matters for me. I just want my ridiculous mood swings disappear which I am sure of it that it is because of the addiction. Because it gets better very time with abstinence of pornography. You know, it is not normal when the mood is constantly flactuating.

  6. Any change in behavior leads to mood problems. I recently wrote a long post on this - Mind is playing games

I don't think testosterone can explain mood swings, as anyone who has lived with a woman can confirm - they are just as prone to them as we are :)

The truth is that you have come to rely on pmo for regulating your stress levels, and giving you an instant thrill and dose of pleasure without too much effort on your part. That is why it is addictive, and that is why you have withdrawal symptoms.

  9. Low testosterone can lead to mood problems but one has to know it is low to make that deduction.
Blood work has to be done, and testosterone has to come up very low.

It is short sighted to attribute mood changes to something specific without relevant evidence.
More likely causes of mood problems is lack of physical activity, poor diet, poor sleep habits, vitamin deficiency among other facts.

Our body finds balance as a result exposure activities. Doing minimal exercise for example has massive mood benefits, improves digestion, sleep, blood supply, cardiovascular tone, testosterone and dopamine levels, - the list is very long.
But I suppose people find it more interesting to contemplate if their testosterone level is to blame for their mood swings and not the fact that they are in such poor health that they cant run 500 feel without falling over.
This part is not directed at you Fred... just my thoughts.
