Woah what an adventure!! Like Indiana Jones, canine version! And I'm a bit jealous of your tender moment with the Afghan hound, I must admit. No need to stow away anywhere Wolf. With Discovery Travel, it's First Class all the way.

So happy and proud that you have once again earned 10 NPPs and spent them on a trip to Afghanistan. You have now earned the prestigious Hatching Chick award. Enjoy Albania. Travel Board Updated!!

From what I gathered from my own trip there, it seems that the Albanian Riviera is a must. The beauty of Albania is that it is so under the tourist radar, yet it has a lot of great things to see. And, thanks to the lack of tourism, things are cheap (think Albanian Riviera vs. French Riviera), people are very friendly, no tourist scams, etc. Enjoy and let us know how it went!

Anyone have some sunblock I can borrow? I'm off to Antigua and Barbuda in two days.
Sorry guys, I need to jump off now. Can't seem to find my diving license. Gotta pull the place apart, and don't have much time.

Albania was interesting. 3 dollars buys a meal and 16 dollars gets a hotel room with a nice view. If I retire and travel like I would like to some day, the low cost of a new experience would be the biggest draw.

I noticed lots of nice looking places with nobody swimming, so I googled the temperatures... Mediterranean weather is mild but a colder than I expected with 76 Fahrenheit weather in the summer. Not my ideal vacation weather but the towns looked beautiful.

I knew the region Albania was in, but I knew next to nothing about it. It was a nice visit.

Excellent! Yes, I agree, it would be a great retirement spot. Cheap, low tourism, friendly people, mild climate, beautiful landscapes and rich culture. Works for me. So glad that you had a great trip.

I have just returned from Afghanistan! :)

Its so beautiful! When I first searched for "visit in Afghanistan", all I could find are videos of the orange hair guy visiting the nation...but after scrolling down, I found some nice videos....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dYpSxkrBd0

I had a good time going through this videos. Witnessed the life in the desert as well as the colorful city life. Yes, its sad whats happening to the country but it is what it is. The remote places in this country are so beautiful, especially the blue river/valley that passes through the mountain in one of the videos. People seem very friendly. The food, I think its somewhat closer to the Indian cooking style. I haven't seen much women in the video, but I have seen some pictures, afghan woman are really beautiful. Their language kinda sounds like spanish and arab and hindi/urdu mixed. Its overall a great experience!

PS: F**K the media.....it only shows the negative side of this country.

    Thank you @discovery

    EXCELLENT!!

If you search for '(country) travel', it will be more accurate about displaying travel videos as opposed to political or other types.

No need to link them here in the future, just reporting on them is fine. That being said, the links you posted were different than the ones that came up for me under searching 'Afghanistan travel'. That youtube algorithm.. what a mystery :emoji_upside_down:

So glad you're enjoying the challenge! That is awesome.

So true. All you ever see is the violence in the media. I liked the part in one of the videos where the ice cream guys asked the presenter where he was from, and he said USA, and they were like, 'cool!'. In the media all you ever see is the tension and conflict between the US soldiers and the locals. In so many ways, it's just a normal place like anywhere else.

No worries! Glad you're here. Travel Board Updated!!

Well last night at exactly 1:15 AM, I noticed a cruise line ticket materialize on my desk, just like that. It was to Antigua and Barbuda, with a little post-it note attached that said 'Congrats on 60 days without porn'. I was like YES! I'm going to the tropics. A and B is located right at the 90 degree angle of the island chain that turns straight down into Venezuela.

When I got off the ship, I had mixed feelings about what I was seeing. I was on the quays of St. John's, the capital, on the larger island of Antigua. The buildings were so colorful, as were the traditional clothes worn by the locals. The weather was perfect. But it was a tourist trap. Most of the people walking around were cruise passengers like myself, just there for a few hours before moving on. The locals in colorful traditional dress were dressed like that to sell stuff/ entertain the tourists.

The good news was that once I got about five blocks away, all that suddenly stopped. Most of the cruise passengers will get stuck at the bars, restaurants and duty-free shopping within those five blocks and not move further. As I continued on, things got a lot more local. Much less tourists, more run-down dwellings, sewers with grates missing or damaged, and just an overall sense of normal life.

I had enough time to take an 'open safari' tour of the rest of the island, where we got to see the more agrarian side of things, as well as historical sites. The country was once a British colony which was built on the backs of slavery and there are lots of remnants of those times. There are 365 beaches in the country, one for every day of the year. Oh, and there's a big pink church. Yes pink. When Hello Kitty finds religion, I'll know where to send her.

Barbuda is mostly natural, and most people who go there do so to observe the wildlife.

I realized that I had been pronouncing both Antigua and Barbuda wrong. It's pronounced 'An-tee-guh and Bar-byoo-dah'. Now I know. And like GI Joe said, knowing is half the battle.

Well I'm kinda sad that the trip is over, but in 10 days I'm off to Argentina, so I'm gonna choose to think about that instead.

I just got back from Algeria and had a really nice time all around! The country seems like a real hidden gem with so much going for it.

Places that you should definitely visit on your trip are the: Botanical garden of Algers / Fort of Santa Cruz in Oran / Ighzer in the Sahara

I found out that it is the biggest country in Africa, but 90% of the population is concentrated in just 1/8 of it's territory (as some parts are very desertic)

The most interesting part for me was learning about Berber culture. I had no idea they had their own language and alphabet, and it looks really unique and interesting compared to any other alphabet i have ever seen (The shape of the letters actually reminds me of a coded alphabet my friends and i randomly created when we were 11 to send notes in class :D)

I also got to see a bunch of the cuisine, and since i love to cook I think im going to add another level to this challenge by trying to cook one thing from every country i visit.

Yes!! I so totally agree. One of the videos has the presenter talking about all the benefits of Algeria as opposed to its neighbors, Morocco and Tunisia, which are both heavily touristed destinations. But Algeria.. not so much. Which has a lot of advantages. Sounds like you had an amazing time!

This is SO SO SO cool! I can't tell you how amazing I think this is! You are expanding the challenge off the computer screen and into the real world. I only wish I could try your stuff! Well there's still the next best thing- feel free to post pics of your creations here! We'd be honored! :emoji_clap:

And I love the addition to your signature. Thanks for helping spread the word!

Il be more then happy to do that :)

For sure! I love all the other challenges that I found on NoFap but i feel all of them are just using the same format with a different theme - this one is such a breath of fresh air, and it also encourages us to actively better ourselves in ways that go beyond kicking our PMO problem.
I really hope that more people get involved and that they get inspired to also create other ones that push you to be better in different ways (this format could be addapted in so many fulffiling ways - ex: Movie club to watch IMDB's top 100 movies / Book club / Cooking school... the opportunities are actually endless)

Thanks man. That really means a lot to me. Yes, I wanted this challenge to be interactive, and not just a matter of abstaining to level up somehow. So, here you have to abstain PLUS watch a travel video (or read article) and report on it. If you don't watch the video, you don't get credit for it, even if you did abstain. And yes, those are all excellent ideas.

  20. Wow, you are getting creative with those awards. I'm looking forward to winning a few of those and also looking forward to my trip to Albania in about 7 days, because, to be honest, I know almost nothing about that country.
