Hello guys its been nearly a month since I started nofap, however after a week of withdrawal symptoms my mood stabilised, I started feeling better and sleeping better however, my Insomnia is back, can't fucking sleep because my mind is racing with unconfortable thoughts, any suggestion? Appreciate it, only could fall asleep yesterday because I took a pill but I don't want to make it an habit

Hey man, I'm going through the same thing after 3 weeks nofap. I don't know what to tell you. This is the first time it's been this bad for me. All I can say is don't worry about it if you can't sleep. Your body will eventually find a way. I listen to a lot of "Manly P Hall" lectures about self-improvement, also some by "Wayne Dyer". I find these somewhat soothing. Melatonin also helps, but I don't really want to make it a habit.

It's so weird, it's like my body is falling asleep and getting heavy but then my mind refuses to follow and I get weak when I suddenly "wake up" about the thoughts only at night I get them, hope it goes away soon, I'm on day 25 btw

Exact same thing is happening to me. As soon as my mind drifts a thought creeps in and keeps me awake. Then I awake in the morning with a beating heart and anxiety. I just hope it passes this next week.

    I'm going through something similar.
    First time Fapstronaut here.
The initial zeal, determination and fervor of my first weeks has been replaced by Insomnia, apathy and doubt.

But the knowledge that the withdrawal from PMO has the similar symptoms from withdrawal of drugs has helped.
I can acknowledge my feelings and the insomnia and I can frame them as being tough but to be expected.
Knowing that others have gone through what I am going through now, and that they have come out the other side, and changed their lives for good, gives me hope, solace and determination.

I have experienced the exact same things: racing mind, suddengly waking up just when I was about to fall asleep, beating heart, anxiety, fear, desperation, restlessness.

Reading through the forums I find this common denominator about sleep issues. It must be from PMO addiction and withdrawal, definetly.

Have you read about the downregulation of the dopamine receptors? Your brain is starving dopamine because you have cut the dopamine supply provided by PMO. Sleep deprivation increases dopamine in the brain. That is one of the crazy tricks your brain plays to get its dopamine dose.

You need to keep starving your brain from dopamine, i.e. avoid overstimulation, and find ways to upregulate your D2 receptors. Eventually you will be healed!

Don't give up, persevere. Don't mess up with hormones, i.e. don't take melatonin. Avoid sleeping pills.

I personally find a subtle but noticeable improvement, not linear tho. Expect ups and downs.

Thanks, last night I managed to fall asleep naturally, drank a cup of tea before, well today I'm feeling lethargic and a bit negative, it's like my brain is around a loop, I even doubt my skills to make new friends lol will keep on nofap because I KNOW THIS WILL PASS!!!

Yeah, I took a sliver of melatonin and woke up at three but was able to sleep a few more hours. However, I awoke with running thoughts. But these have passed for now. I'm trying my best not to take melatonin but when I go 3-4 days with only 3 hours sleep each night, it gets a bit rough.

I have been taking magnesium glycinate to help sleep and I have to be honest and say it helps. It also can sometimes be very calming and help with withdrawls and stress. Plus it’s just magnesium so it’s something our body needs!

How long did you take MG Glycenate for sleep until you can sleep naturally ?

Well honestly I still take it. Every night I take it I sleep better. Magnesium is such a important mineral in our body, and it’s hard to get it from today’s food.
