My opinion on it is that hair is 90+ percent genetics, even 95+ but.. for personal experience I have more body hairs since doing streaks, though I am young, probably it is normal to get more hair without doing a thing .

Abstaining is great and possible can have benefits to the hair. My hair grows fast, even my coiffeur says it too often it grows too fast . Got volume. It is much nutrition to it! But if you are going bald it is probably genetics.
