The attitude of 'all or nothing' is hurting plenty of people here.
If you could reduce the frequency of watching p from once a day to once a week or better a month with few binging sessions here and there ,it is still success.
It all adds up and sooner or later you will be able to quit for good.
Don't compare yourself to anyone .
    Every journey is unique.
Remember that this journey isnt solely to quit , but it is mainly to know yourself . To notice patterns . To discover your hidden anxieties and fears.
Keep going. You will get there .

  2. Yeah. No one is a failure for messing up, as long as they are determined to keep trying and keep learning.

Don't forget that before success there are a lot of failures

you're technically right, fact is that reducing a lil bit just don't work for 99,9% of the people.

That's exactly right, it all adds up.

You should always aim to never use porn or artificial sexual stimulation again though, but if you do relapse on it then you just continue trying to stop it.

Getting one long streak where you never relapse is obviously the quickest way to recover. But there is no doubt about it that everything adds up. It just takes longer to recover though.

I have been using calendars on my laptop over the last 4 months to track my progress and streaks. Basically I use 3 different crosses, a green cross, a yellow cross, and a red cross. A green cross is like a light relapse, masturbating to an image or few images for a few minutes. A yellow cross is worse, that would be masturbating to social media content or even porn content for around half an hour. A red cross is the worst, that would be masturbating to porn content, social media content for anything over an hour.

But basically over the last 4 months what my calendars are showing is I am relapsing on average 8 days in the month. On average I have 4 red crosses in the month, 2 yellow crosses and 2 green crosses.

You might not believe this, but I am noticing huge improvements in my erectile functioning, and I can also feel my porn addiction massively weakening overall.

I'm not kidding I think if I went on doing this exact pattern for another 4 months I wouldn't be surprised if I was 100% cured of PIED. Just from how much my erections have improved over the last 4 months, if they improved that much again over the next 4 months then yeah I would say that would likely be 100% cured of PIED. Sometimes it actually feels nearly cured at the moment.

But I aim to do better. I aim to get longer streaks and to not relapse, or to relapse as little as possible.

Another thing I want to add is I have actually been trying nofap and pornfree for a year and a half. But I have noticed much better results over the last 4 months since I started this method with tracking my progress and streaks on a calendar. Basically I aim to keep my calendar as clean as possible.

So yeah I definitely know everything adds up. But the thing is like I said I have been trying nofap and pornfree for a year and a half. So a year and a half and I still haven't 100% recovered. This is what I mean with relapses making it take longer to recover. But everything is still adding up, it's just making recovery take longer.

  6. depends on what your isssue is. if its porn then i get it but if its PMO as a whole you have to do cold turkey otherwise you may be back in square 1 before you know it. i tried to quit porn for 3 years since i was 20 yo. and i went through so many different phases to be where i am today and my mindset changed so much since i started.

and its not like nofap gave me the life i wanted. but it gave me a reason to live for whcih is better than nothing

I'm afraid moderating out of addiction doesn't work. Yes there will be failures, probably so many you'll stop counting them at some point, but your mindset should always be I'm done with this shit for good.

That is always my mindset. I don't plan on relapsing. But what I am saying is even though I have been relapsing a lot on my journey, I can still see the progress I am making.

I wouldn't say I think streaks add up, I would say I know they add up. As I am experiencing the changes and results.

I tried to reduce things, it doesn’t work with me. It’s all or nothing. Thinking reducing is letting the door opened, then it can become like those people that abstain just to get more pleasure the next time.

might work for some, not for me.

I aim to quit porn completely. But if I manage to use porn less frequently, that's at least taking some steps toward the goal, so at the very least, it would be "success" in the sense of "not failing as much as before".

I actually can say no and I can reduce it to once a week BUT I cannot just determine the day on which I will go for PMO, it just happens (presumably because it's addiction). Moreover, If I stop for awhile, say one month, then if I have PMO session, then the chaser effect becomes terrible and I'd probably relapse for at least a week after.

You're certiainly having some benefits by reducing the time you dedicate to PMO, thats for sure.

However, if you're looking to a radical change and improvement of your life by doing nofap, you'll probably won't have them until you take the situation on your hand and quit it cold turkey.

I mean, 2 session a week is still a lot, is still taking a lot of your energy and in my opinion is still an enormous obstacole to set free your true sex drive and sex energy.

The only thing I know for sure is how much better my PIED and porn addiction is compared to what it used to be. So I must be doing something right.

  14. As soon as I peek it's only a matter of time before I am back. I had another nice run, a few weeks, but I need to reset.
I am full of great advice which I cannot seem to follow.
Back on the horse and try again.

The main logic behind my post is the fact that the brain will always take you wherever you want to go but between you and your goal there are some road blocks that you need to work on.
If you keep your eyes on the goal the brain will take you there. It is designed to do just that .

If it takes you couple years or more of relapses here and there to reach your full sobriety , isn't that success?

And if you could reduce your energy expenditure from 7 days a week to just 2 or even better once a blue moon , isn't that success?

What does it mean cold Turkey?

  17. It means to stop consuming some addictive substance abruptly. In this case porn . you quit it and never return to .There are no cheating days.
    Hope this helps
