What's up with people getting so judgemental over this? Just because a guy wants to do something funny and creative with their past mistake instead of just plain out destroying it doesn't mean he's being pro-pmo. I think a lot of the ideas thrown around here were really funny. The hitchiker doll -thing is my personal favourite and I'd really like to see it happen, because seeing where the doll ends up going would be really interesting. (Unless someone ruins the fun for everyone by not following the instructions.) I really think you guys should just chill out. The very meaning of the off topic section is to have a place for more casual conversation that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with rebooting. As long as the thread doesn't violate any rules (which it doesn't apparently) I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to exist.

there's not too much you can do.

Last year I hang out on a doll forum to better understand it.

1. A sex doll isn’t entirely about sex despite the name. People who buy this usually are really lonely. It’s like a presence. They give it name, dress it, take care of it (it requires some maintenance). Some people just really want something to hug, not sleep alone, etc. That’s why so many doll owners bring them outside to take pictures and stuff, it’s like a member of the family. I’d say a sex doll is 30% sex and 70% loneliness. It’s all just very sad when you think about it, but we all cope with loneliness in various ways.

2. There is a second market for this. On the forum I was, there was that whole section dedicated to selling second hand dolls. It’s gross, but it happens. Also I won’t give more information but in some case you can replace some parts so that it’s not that gross.

I’m in no way inciting anybody to buy one. That’s just the informations I gathered. As I said, at some point I wanted to buy some. It made me feel excited, like having a secret girlfriend that would wait for me everyday. The fact that I usually pmo to drawing/3D made things worse too. In the porn I watch, women are literally perfect. And the doll is like that. It’s like having a super model with you. Something you know won’t happens.


But I said stop because this is just messed up. This is humanizing a piece of plastic and I don’t want to be that dude telling his future wife : « hm btw, I kinda bought a 40 pounds sex doll few years ago ».

 

In my opinion, buying a sex doll will only make this whole situation worse.
When you feel sad and lonely you have to fight the loneliness so it'll fade away..

A super model that can't breath, speak, talk or make you a cup of tea after a long day at work..

Yep. In the end you are still alone. You have the illusion that you are not. Kinda like watching TV 24/7.
But for some it’s better than nothing at all.

I’ve seen some Japanese having the same kind of logic with anime character. It’s their virtual « wife ». Some say that jokingly, but some live in the lie.


I’m convinced that this way of thinking will be even more common in the near future. You have some people buying inanimate dolls already, but what about robot ? If we can make robots as sophisticated as human, how many men will prefer a fake one that is always available (like porn), always kind and nice, to a real one ?

Also VR is a thing already. Not in a near future.
