False. How many studies are out there involving high speed internet porn users? Can you name them? How big are the sample sizes? Have they been replicated?
As long as these conditions aren't met, you can't be talking about 'facts'.

Nofap is a public forum, not an experimental lab, so of course people will say all kinds of things and make baseless assumptions. Hell, many members aren't legally adults even. But attacking the forum's entire premise because some people claim that their hair or penis growth is linked to masturbation is bad practice to say the least.

And I haven't seen anyone here claim they're going blind due to fapping. But I've seen many describe the same process of porn escalation, and many complain about DE and ED at ages when it shouldn't happen. And that's a growing phenomenon that's also being noticed outside this forum.

Not every HSI porn user will experience negative effects in and out of the bed, just like not every person exposed to tobacco or alcohol will become a smoker or alcoholic, and not every heavy smoker will die of lung cancer. Your chance to die of lung cancer if you're a lifelong heavy smoker is less than 25%. Does that mean we shouldn't raise awareness about those issues?

    Good points.

I was thinking Porn like a drug, especially P + MO, in that both PMO and drugs spike dopamine in the brain, the real drug addiction. Also, I think people use porn, like alcohol and drugs, to avoid looking at their problems, their inner wounds; it's like a botched attempt at self-medication. In that sense, even video games can be like this - one can waste a lot of time and one's life away constantly playing video games but never facing one's real life or chores of growth or paths of healing old wounds or adopting any meaningful values or relationships apart from the virtual life of video games.

To me, the legality or illegality of the thing, or whether one even would think of jumping on such a bandwagon, may not even be relevant, practical, or even sensible with some things. Anything can be used wrongly, but it doesn't man everything should be confiscated. Indeed, those things that literally and quickly lead to death must be intervened more quickly. But, in the psychological and life realm, this does not mean we give less importance to other destructive things that destroy lives and relationships and culture in general, even though there is not a literal corpse at the end of the day; Zombies, perhaps, if not corpses.

    Best!

  3. I see what you are saying, you point out that suggestive nature of pornography can change behavior - I agree with that.
However, conditioning is abused in every aspect of our society, all entertainment, media and even social interactions and most importantly advertising and marketing are all built on conditioning.
Because it is applied in every aspect of out life - we have to consider effects on conditioning on their own and not in context of specific industry.

There are huge negative consequences on well being and health of people because of advertising and conditioning is far more professionally applied in this industry.
So we can disregard conditionality on the merits that it already affects us in all aspects on life and any activity you do involves conditioning.

  4. I have grown accustomed to my words being taken out of context and interpreted in one single way "you suggest there is no problem and you support porn industry"
If I though there is no problem, I would not be here.

This community is hostile to an average person, the very person it is trying to educate about pornography. Which is why people ignore it.
If the message was to inform about negative effects of pornography on health and well being - it would be far more widely accepted and far more people would be engaged.

As far as studies go, just go to google and type in "studies involving porn users" there is significant body of scientific research papers will come up.
The issue is that it has become popular to mistrust the government and everyone else for that matter. the idea that we are being used and lied to, prevents people form seeking help and being objective.
If you think that there are no researchers in the scientific community that share your view on pornography and want to prove its effects - you are mistaken, there are many of them and they have shown negative effects but they are not conclusive.

  5. But the thing is that even though I'm forceful in my article, I don't stereotype people that suffer pornography as bad though. I'm Not condemning people that use porn, I'm trying to point out the addiction itself and showing why pornography is negative to these people's lives. Pointing out the consequences of using porn to help support why its bad. Unlike other people that just make claims without facts but, I make a claim with evidence and support that backs my claim up why its negative and it can be life-damaging. I've put all sorts of evidence in there to support my claim. Media use fallacies to help their case but in this case, I'm using legit facts, so this doesn't make me look "crazy". Even though many people are not at the table to weather destroy porn or to save it, this article helps and convinces readers to join the authors side. Thats what authors and influencers try to do, convince people so they can help make change.

  6. OOHH YES My English teacher gave me a 97% on this lol. Cant beleive she read it XD.

  7. People engage in behavior not because they are unaware of the facts around it, they engage because they have to deal with life and they are doing what they can to make it bearable.
Most of them know the facts, and even if they do not - somehow when they are told - they do not change. People know physical activity is good for them, they know "the facts" but they do not do it.
Herein lies the problem, throwing facts at people and calling them stupid is easy. It gets hard when they say please help me, I beg you!- this is where most leave all the "facts" where they lay and run.
Because helping, understanding and supporting was not on the agenda, that involves hard work. People do not need facts, they need to know what to do and "just stop using porn" is no different from - "just exercise and you will loose wight" - it does not work.
Most difficult work, is taking facts and converting them in to strategies and insights people can apply to their life and say - thank you, I feel so much better because of what you did.

Facts are worth as much as ideas, exactly zero - what matters is what results you get from facts. Which is why I honestly hate posts that just say "porn is bad, evil and sinful" - ooh we know, this is not news here, who cares! Say something useful, something that can help others.

  8. I can see your view here and posting this article on a website where people with PMOS trying to recovery isn't the best idea. I do understand the hurt of PMO because I've been there my self. But I uploaded this article on this forum because Idk where else to post it but also it seems appropriate to do so. But this article was designed to open the eyes of people that have not really understand and convince that people don't believe is bad also in the conclusion, I've stated how and where to get help. Then again, this is a good point you've pointed out, I've should have posted somewhere else than just nofap because it would make more sense. I still hold my ground though that Porn is life-destroying.
