HOW TO STOP MASTURBATING?

    HI I am 15 ( started watching prn at 13) I can stop watching prn but I can never stop masturbating. And I easily get turned on and when I do, I will rush to my room and quickly masturbate. I read that masturbation is good for releasing stress but, everytime I masturbate I always get a feeling of regret, that makes it even stressful. I also can only stop watching prn for a short period of time ( like a week or so) after a week, I will always go back to watching prn. PLEASE I NEED HELP!!!

    This may be hard to hear, but you need accountability, my friend! You need to get as many AP's as you can and stop this NOW. Because if you don't, you'll end up like so many of us addicts who are just STARTING recovery after several DECADES of being addicted. Its never easy to fight an addiction, but the longer you're acting out in the addiction, the harder it is to walk away from. Trust me on this.

    It probably is extra hard due the fact you'r still a teen, so your hormones are raging. which is normal, try to find other way's to release stress and tension. Avoid porn before it really gets an addiction.

    It's been "only" two years then. Quit before it's too late ! When you're addicted it is really difficult to quit. If you do not believe me read this forum !
    Don't masturbate/watch prn ever, even to reduce anxiety or whatever. It's like drinking to forget. You know it's bad even if it feels good when you do it.

    Good luck and don't hesitate to post/read this forum if you need any advice.
     
  5. It's good to numb stress, just as any addiction is — alcohol, smoking, PMO, overeating, etc.

    It doesn't release stress. It numbs it. Remember that.

    In the long run, it actually increases stress, which makes you more dependent on it to relieve your stress. A vicious cycle that just gets worse and worse over time.

    As to how to stop masturbating…
    • Start by going full-on no porn. No porn. Ever. This is the most important thing.
    • When you feel aroused, don't rush to your room to masturbate. How are you going to live your life like that? Instead, just notice your arousal; appreciate that you have the ability to have it; and empty your bladder if it's full (a full bladder can ironically make you feel aroused). With a bit of patience, your horniness will fade away, sometimes completely, sometimes partly.
    If you still get such severe urges that you can't hold back:
    • Be as patient as you can. You'll be surprised how often it will go away by itself!
    • Never, ever, masturbate to relieve stress. There is exactly one reason to masturbate, and that's if the physical urge is too great to resist while you don't have a sexual partner. Masturbating for any other reason will keep you addicted.
    • Do your best to never masturbate more than once every four days. That's because in the first three days after orgasm, the so-called "chaser effect" is the strongest.
    Be brave, be patient, and learn not to panic!
