What to do when you get an uncontrollable urge?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Feb 8, 2020.

  1. Weekend mornings are tough for me, I always wake up with an erection and have no real reason to rush out of bed. I also live alone.

This morning I really had an uncontrollable urge to masturbate (though not to watch porn, so that’s positive I guess). I must have spent ten minutes trying to talk myself out of it before thinking “fuck it” and going for it for a minute or so before stopping myself. I have no interest in edging without eventual orgasm by the way so I consider this an averted relapse rather than anything else.

My question is what can we do when the urge to masturbate hits us hard? I feel like there’s a tipping point at which it because exponentially harder to stop. How can we recognise what’s happening before this point hits and what can we do to avoid it escalating?

A frustrating start to the day but having this Devo song stuck in my head all morning is a bonus

Just think that mastrubation is cheap way of satisfaction , it doest achieve anything. Wat mastrubation gave you all this time . It can only harm us . Once u abstain , next day you will feel good that u didnt waste your energy for useless purpose

  3. First thing: Go empty your bladder! A full bladder is common in the morning, and because of the way it causes pressure, it can give you an erection.

A trip to the toilet will not only empty your bladder and lose your erection, but also get you out of bed and wake you up, so that you won't be so weak.

I can relate completely. This is my hardest time, pun intended, lol. I struggle every morning with this and sometimes if I'm alone when I go to bed. It's really hard to take your hand off your crotch and do something else but turning to this group is one thing I do. Reading a book about my addiction also helps. I know none of this is exact answers to the problem but they might help.

I wish I knew because I always hate myself for it after.

It's energetic too not just mental.

Like it is self-abuse energetically IME

Why do it then in the first place?

    Unhealed traumas?

    No lying to myself.

Will try it next time. Actually try it.

And I value insane cardio so like what is the excuse honestly?

  7. In many cases, unhealed traumas lead to people not knowing how to handle stress and daily life, leading in turn to addiction. So yes, it could be. Therapy can help you to overcome this.

  8. I relapsed this morning. I think a big part of it was the fact that I was quite hungover, it decreased my motivation to get out of bed and probably my general willpower too. At least I didn’t watch porn so it’s not a complete failure.
