Helpful Proverbs

Hey y'all!

Below is a list of all the wonderful proverbs and the little nuggets of wisdom I have accumulated in my journey. Some are original, some are quotes, many are from articles on NoFap or elsewhere. I read these first thing in the morning when I wake and late at night before I go to bed. Please copy this list, feel free to pick and chose the ones that stand out to you, or suggest new ones in the comments (I'm always looking to expand the list)! Hope this helps. **i've elaborate on a few of the confusing ones

• If you change nothing, nothing will change.
• I would rather die fighting for what is right, rather than live passively amidst all that is wrong.
• Porn can't kiss you, hold you, cry with you, laugh with you, start a family with you, love you, or grow old with you.
• The wolf you feed is the wolf that wins (old Cherokee proverb, look it up if you want to read the whole thing)
• Sex is about love and selflessness. Porn is about lust and selfishness.
• Remember that guy who gave up? Neither does anyone else.
• Don't give up what you want most for what you want now.
• Porn isn't bad because it shows too much. Porn is bad because it shows to little- Pope John Paul II (huh? Pope JPII is my biggest role model, he was one of the world's greatest diplomats and theologians, he is the man responsible for the fall of comunism, and so much other amazing stuff. This is such a wise way to look at porn, sure it shows EVERYTHING in terms of body parts...but that's all it shows. A collection of body parts. You don't see the whole person in porn, you don't know there real name, what their personality is like, what there interests are, what makes them laugh and cry. Genius. ***This is the most important nugget from the list)
• You can't be common. The common man goes nowhere. You have to be uncommon- Herb Brooks, coach of 1980 USA hockey team that won the Olympics
• It never gets easier. You just get better.
• There's no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone. Get comfortable with discomfort.
• There's a difference between a bird flying over your head, and letting it make a nest on your head. Control your sexual desires, don't let them control you. (Sexual desires are part of being a healthy human being, the goal of NoFap is not to crush these desires but to help you control them. Me personally, being religious, I lift up all my desires to God. Instead of suppressing them, I lift them up and pray for the desire ("thank you God for this beautiful woman, please help me to see her how you see her. Let me love her and not lust for her"))
• To break an addiction, you must break yourself.
• Feed the love and starve the lust inside you.
• Porn is a temporary escape into fantasy. True love creates a reality that doesn't need escaping.
• I am asking you to rebel against this culture which sees everything as temporary, and that ultimately believes that you are incapable of responsibility, that you are incapable of true love- Pope Francis
