hello, I have a question, if my androgen brain receptors will return to their natural levels after nofap ? because i was used to fap a lot and i see that fap decrease the androgen receptor in brain and increase the female receptor. And i see no clear response about this

Androgens are a group of male hormones. A common androgen is testosterone.

Studies have shown an increase in testosterone for males only in the first week of abstinence from masturbation, "https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1265924".

Female hormones are not produced while masturbating or viewing porn.

The thing with NoFap is to break an addiction that I would compare to an opioid addiction, because of estrogens that are released on orgasm and that are binding to human opioid receptors.

Will it make your life better? -High chances that yes; How? -It will decrease the dopamine tolerance in the brain and restore your motivation. Instead of searching and watching porn three hours a day, you will use this time for something else.

I'm not here to offend the Nofap community, but NoFap is not going to cure cancer, HIV or everything else. Nofap community consist of people that noticed how porn and/or compulsive masturbation is taking their time, energy, motivation and the "bright light" of this life because of their addiction.

Yes but i don't speak about hormones i speak about brain receptor, because fap decrease androgen brain receptor and increase estrogen brain receptors, it's not hormones but receptors

What do you mean by increasing and decreasing receptors? Do you mean the amount of androgen and estrogen receptors in the brain or their tolerance to their agonists?

the amount of receptors and the tolerance the 2 things

  7. I read some interesting posts once from a biology student musing that androgen receptor density (i.e what testosterone, estrogen, etc bind to) might go up in line with abstinence. But that's all it was, musings. He had no evidence, and as far as I'm aware there is no evidence, it was just a post saying "from my slightly higher than average understanding of this field I think it is possible that this might happen". So there's no real reason to believe it. Would be an interesting study though.

Nice to think that, maybe, abstinence will make us more manly but there's nothing empirically saying it will.

I'd recall reading about a study in which they proved something like this happening on rats. Of course it's not the same, since rats and humans are different, but I suppose it's a step towards having studies done about this.
