Porn actually looks better the longer you don't look at it?

It's just I have read and heard some guys say the longer you don't look at porn the less interest you will have in it if you do see it.

Well I haven't been on any porn or artificial sexual stimulation for almost 15 days. I had a little peak at it when I was in my parents house today. I didn't masturbate to it, I literally just looked at it for 5 minutes.

I certainly didn't feel like I was less interested in the porn, I felt more interested in it than ever. It actually looked so good, and I actually even felt like I was getting really excited looking at it.

I turned it off after about 5 minutes and didn't masturbate to it.

But it's just some guys say porn becomes more boring the longer you don't look at it. But this seems to be the exact opposite with me.

Will it eventually get really boring if I see it if I haven't looked at it in a long time?

I don't know personally having never been on a long streak, but why tempt or test yourself. Maybe your addict brain wants you to rationalize it so you can look again. And how many have relapsed after long streaks anyway? Much credit to them for their streak but they fell if you want to call it that, I guess they weren't bored by it.

It's just it seems to actually become much more arousing and stimulating the less you look at it. It doesn't seem to become more boring the less you look at it, it seems to become much more arousing and stimulating the less you look at it.

  4. You've only been on NoFap for 14 days. That's not enough to make a material difference.

You have relapsed by looking at porn, because of what it does to your brain. Fortunately, you stopped after five minutes, but some damage was still done.

The important thing is to change your mindset towards porn. Instead of seeing it as an exciting stimulating activity, start to see it for what it really is. Look behind the camera to see the makeup, the acting, the cameramen, the lighting, the abuse of the actors (yes, it's real — look it up), the fakery, the emptiness, the superficiality.

Once you get that in your head, porn starts to become distasteful. You see it with a suitably jaundiced eye.

Past that, once you are cured and have a real relationship with a real woman in real love, you start to realise how empty the "sex sex sex" of porn is. You start to realise how artificial and ridiculous the various fetishised sex acts are. Sex for the sake of sex is hollow. On the other hand, sex as a mutual sharing between two real people is special.

    Don't look at porn again.

I have actually been on nofap and pornfree for nearly 2 years. Obviously with a lot of streaks and relapses. It's just at the moment I have a 14 day streak.

It was just this cam tube site I looked at. So it was just one solo woman in front of a camera. But I actually find this more arousing than porn videos where two people are having sex.

  6. Each time you relapse, you retrigger and readdict your brain. It relapses your brain's pathways and receptors — it creates physical changes. From that point of view, only your current streak counts towards getting free of porn.
It doesn't matter which site it was. The point is that, for you, it was stimulating porn.

You need not only to stop watching porn altogether, but also to change your mindset. If you look at porn again, do as I suggested and go behind the camera to see what's going on. Instead of watching the woman and thinking, "Ooh, ah," ask yourself…
… why she is there. What's causing her to do this work? What happens when she tries to get out? How did she get there in the first place? How is she punished when she doesn't meet target, and which drug is her "reward" when she does? While she pretends to be having a great time, what is she really feeling and thinking? Where is the man, hidden out of sight, who keeps her obedient and well-behaved? If you look up what happens to cam girls, you will be shocked. I certainly was, and so I cannot in good conscience support such an industry.
This change in mindset, I believe, is important in changing how you feel about porn.

Thats why i am insisting that abstinence only does not work but can actually make one more addicted in the long run. And that's why i insist on cue exposure and understanding porn objectively.

  8. For me, I don't think it would matter if I was able to stay away from porn for a hundred years. If I started looking at it again, even for a second, it would only be a matter of time before I relapsed. I looked at it for too many years to believe otherwise.
However, I want to be able to say that I have done my absolute best to rid myself of this ugly habit.

At the end of my 30 days streak, porn was literally the most interesting thing in the world for me.

  10. You are DANG right. It's all about the mindset. If you don't have any hatred towards porn and masturbation, you'll continue to look at it and do it, even if you refuse to do it.

  11. If you would watch it after 11500 days, then yes, it would be boring.
Watching it in early process of recovery will most likely give you a such result you had

  12. I agree with you, but I'm scratching my head over the significance of 11,500? That's about 31½ years.

lol yeah, I am pretty sure it's more like 7500 days.

@skaterdrew sounds like you have not broken free yet. Simple as that. Personally I consider someone as not free yet if they have strong, compulsive feelings towards porn one way or another.
Someone is attached to it if it seems to be the most exciting thing in the world to them or they are also attached to it (from the other side) if it disgusts them and they think/feel like it's the worst thing on the planet. Neither of these options sounds like freedom when it comes to some pixels on a screen.

When you are free pixels on a screen do not bother you one way or another. You may care about the abuse that is happening on so many levels in society but not about porn itself.

Personally I can look at porn or simply observe a sexual scene in a movie and not get drawn into it anymore. At best, it actually became a reminder of how much I value real people and intimate, authentic connection. Porn truly pales in comparison to what you can actually have with real life people and thus becomes more and more stale and boring. A cool moment was when I realized that having an open, enthusiastic and just great conversation with another person that I cared about was a lot more satisfying that looking at porn.

So when you are free, porn may be a reminder of what you actually truly care about or a non-issue altogether. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do not believe it will ever become boring. The guys who say it does are either very different from me, or are deluding themselves. I am on Day 1,256 without porn and there is no way I am trying your "I had a little peak" experiment; I know that if I looked I would dive in. That is why I think it is so important to stay vigilant, even when the urge to peak is gone (or is easy to resist). It reminds me of being vegetarian. I was vegetarian for almost 22 years. When I started eating meat again it tasted AMAZING.

    I concur.
Why throw away two weeks of effort? Was it truly impossible for you to not do this? You need to give up porn for months before your perception changes. Having "a little peak" should not be happening. Up your self discipline so you can reboot.

There's a third option. These guys have reset their brains to a normal understanding of porn — their mindset has changed. When I first ever saw video porn (it was in a movie theatre, I'm that old), I laughed aloud at how ridiculous and stupid it was, and I walked out after several minutes, shaking my head. What makes you think that you or I can't get back to that state? Don't limit your possibilities with a false belief!

Honest question, how do you live like that for more than 3 years? Do you feel free or like you are constantly putting energy, effort and vigilance as you say into the daily planings of your day?
Considering the context of our hyper-sexualized society, living like that I am having an image in my mind of a guy clutching his rifle, eyes wide open, ready to shoot at any enemies that he may detect at any moment.
Like, when do you get to rest?
