Don't steal the phone because that'd get you into trouble too. I'd say screenshot it but that'd put child porn on your phone as well.
As to what the police will be able to do when they get a random "I found child porn on so and so's computer" I don't know exactly.

 

Give it to police then, and remind them he left it in the car. If he doesn't file a complaint of theft, then your side of the story is believable.

 

Then request to be anyomous. I'm sure they'll take it into consideration, however on his end he'll know its obvious you're the one who found it.

 

Honestly most people have to high of standards or simply are just to sexualized to have any meaningful bond with the opposite sex.

Anyways about the phone I would imagine the best thing to do is to report it to the police or just send the phone back if you don't want the hassle. Unfortunately stuff like this isn't punished severely enough anymore which is why there are so many people like this one to begin with.Whatever you do make sure to get the phone off your hands fast.

If he's 6 hours away then great , you don't have to worry as much as him immediately coming over and doing something to you, although that's a possibility.

The thing about pedophiles is there is two different categories. there's young adult ones who just got too wrapped up talking to a underage person. Then there's people like the one you're describing who are just pure monsters and need to be stopped anyway possible.
If you're okay with living with letting this guy continue to do his thing, then just send the phone back as quickly as possible. If not, then just give it to the police and ask to remain anyomoious.

And here is the contrary opinion. No police . Just return the phone and ignore him . If you don't wanna give it personally hand it as lost. Don't report , don't be a snitch, don't get hurt . You decide and if he is no good just cut him off.

 

I can not believe I'm reading this. According to you, thousands of people should have their childhoods and subsequent lives ruined by a paedophile because the one reporting such heinous crimes would be a "snitch"?

Didnt you read that he is active, sending kids messages and asking them for a drink? I dont know if you have children, but think about it, if one of these "soon to be victims" is your child. What would You do, would you try to stop him? The irreversable damage it does to a person if molested as a child.
If the police investigates and its somekind of misunderstanding, then all good, if not, maybe she saved one or many children of that hell of being molested.

 

I didn't he is active . Yet , it is still dangerous for a woman to deal with that , esp . one who got connection with him . You cannot catch all you know that ? Hypothetically to do mine , it's a murder , no convo , if you looking for that answer so much . System cannot do nothing to stop spreading of these. Teach your kids doesnt neccesary help you know. If he can manipulate a grownup, then how can you believe that he cant do it to kids???
And if there is alcohol or drugs involved, the judgement making is badly disturbed.

Think about that: She doesnt report him, because shes scared. After a year, she sees his picture in newspaper and the headline is: "Childmolester caught after x amount of victims" How bad she must feel knowing she could have done something to stop it, but she didnt.

I am saying that we should not kill our instincts going to somebody else. To be more stoic to this world. Here is the point. Not reporting, is not only from fear. It can be very strong move. As in my case, I understand what you mean and yet.. It is none of my business. I cannot stop them, that is universal fact. For example, I got to report all the crimes all the time and .. guess what crimes still will be there.

That is what a manipulator uses, your feel for others. I will absolutely teach my own to never trust nobody, to hold their ground, stand for themselves. Which won't be hard if they got their father's heart.

Since I am becoming toxic to this thread, talking to much and much of it is not agreed, I wanna again, from my feel of good, wanna advice you. Don't report, hold your ground, be wiser and take care .

Sorry. Disagree. Child porn is terribly destructive to kids futures and needs to be stopped wherever it is found. It’s not one photo this guy is perpetuating a terrible evil.

 

Unfortunately WolfHound is right and that's exactly why for this women's safety I also recommended just giving the phone back. Even if the authorities where handed the phone the chance of this guy facing any persecution is low. In a time like this you need to look out for your self the justice system is no longer there to protect you they are only there to protect corporate interests.

I guarantee at best this guy may get house arrest but that is even stretching it. This guy would then get out and continue to do what he does and then he would be a danger to this poor women.

I honestly think the best option maybe would be to report this guy to a vigilante pedophile hunting group. There is a lot more of them around no for exactly the reason I said because cops a practically useless when it come's to fighting crime.
