I went to get my morning coffee at 6 am in the morning today and there was already a long line at my local grocery store. It's ridiculous how people are hoarding up Toilet paper.

This Coronavirus is taking a toll on people, even transforming Trump into a semi socialist? lol a 1000 thousand dollars per month to people without jobs who makes less than 65000 a year? Will the economy hold up? Hope this pandemic doesn't last the whole year.

Here in Germany things are more relaxed even though we have more cases because our overall health system is better, so people are kind of calm. Kind of. Yesterday there was a fight in a local supermarket because a woman was only allowed to get 1 package of toilet paper so she attacked the supermarket worker... what the hell

Besides of that, many shelves are empty but you get through everything.

They should definitely make ‘ You’re allowed one package of toilet paper’ a rule. There’s more than one way to clean yourself and toilet paper should be one of the least of our concerns in a crisis such as this.

Many of the supermarkets here made that rule! I really can't understand it. Producers of food, hygiene articles etc all continue working and supermarket logistics work. There is enough toilet paper for this whole world to shit for another 2000 years

Pretty good. No problems. However, I live in the Netherlands so it's pretty easy here always.

I work at one, it's still crowded but it's thinning out a little bit. We are constantly restocking the shelves and it's just flying right off. I haven't been since tuesday night, but I'm going to work again on saturday night.

Yeah good luck with that! It's gone within an hour of being put on the shelf because people think other people are going to hoard it so they hoard it first. It's sickening.

  9. We're doing fine with food in our household. My fiancée and I both figured I would be either out of work or cut on hours, so we stocked up on canned goods and some other things. Didn't panic buy like a lot of others though. Just what we figured we might need.

My hours are being cut now. I fear our state will follow others with a full shut down for nonessential employees, so I'm glad we have food to get us through a few weeks. Still have a few rolls of TP as well! She works a grocery store, and the company is giving employees $25 each day worked to buy food and other essential items. So thankful for that!

The absolute panic we are seeing is staggering. It takes a long time and often large investments for these supply chains to ramp up. If people panic and increase the demand all at once, these companies won't be able to respond fast enough. I really do think the supply chains for domestic goods (at least in the US) would be able to handle the increase in demand if people stop the extreme stockpiling. Buying little extra is fine, especially if you are trying to limit the number of times you need to expose yourself to others, but I think the level we are seeing now is irrational.

  11. I don't worry about the groceries. First off, I'm over 65 and I don't have to stand in line with a cart and wait for someone to come out so I can go in. I just walk up and they let me in from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Went to get some ground sirloin and the case was empty. So I asked what time they stock it. The man said 9 AM. So I just went the next morning. No arguments. People are so funny. The t-paper rack is empty as soon as they fill it, but there are 2 whole shelves of paper towels there. LOLOLOL Who cares? I like to mossy around the store and find someone to jaw with for a few minutes too. I wear a purple bandanna and still stay 6 ft. away and it's fine. Sometimes I go to the store again in the afternoon just to get the rest of my list and get out again.
I live in little rural town in Ventura, Ca. next to suburban Los Angeles and it's just mellow. People will even stop for you if your trying to back out of a parking space. Imagine? When this carnivorous thing started I was thinking well I'm pretty old and I've seen most of what I want to see so if I get this crazy thing now I'll just go if he wants me. However, it seems even the millennial's are finding out that their grandparents might know a thing or two about living; so I think I'll stay around and see how all this new social stuff plays out. Besides, I want to live longer than "Chuck-you-Schumer".

  12. I'm in the UK and so far I haven't had too many issues. I haven't been able to get any toilet paper yet, however I was already well stocked up from before the outbreak. Bread has been the hardest thing to buy from a supermarket, so I've been getting it from a bakers.

  14. Perfectly reasonable. They can't force us not to work and not help us pay our bills. They can't just expect people to magically not get evicted, get their lights shut off, starve, etc if they are forcing us to not make money.

We're not starving. If anything, I will probably have gained about 20 pounds after all this. Sitting at home all day, not being able to go out and stuff. Eating/cooking is becoming a new hobby. I have been enjoying making bread and cooking for my family.

Supermarkets are not empty, except for toilet paper. I didn't know there was a diarrhea epidemic as well.

I think people are acting irrationally with hoarding and buying toilet paper to last them 20 years. Being constantly fed with news proclaiming the end of the world is creating this panic, that's why I'm not watching the news these days. It will destroy your sanity.

I hope people start relaxing a bit. This too shall pass.

  16. I live in a small border town and it's been absolutely dead since they shut down the us/Mexico border. Last night I went to a small grocery store about two blocks from the port of entry and there were maybe 4 or 5 people inside. It felt very bizarre

Yeah, I live in a big city and it feels like everyone up and left. Very post-apocalyptic. Used to be so noisy with traffic and people out partying. Now there's only the silence.

  18. That's interesting. My town feels pretty much completely normal. Which is unfortunate, because that means pretty much nobody seems to be following the guidelines of quarantining.

You might find that a lot of people will get sick suddenly in your town, if they are not respecting the quarantine. But I hope I'm wrong.

I have 10 rolls of TP left and I really have no fear if I run out. I have a shower and washcloths and a washer and dryer.

    Gross but true.

Ancient kings had no TP, showers, or washcloths, etc., and they survived without them; so can I.
