    Day 3 here
    Have heavy brain fogs, to concentrate/to understand school stuff for my exams is really hard and annoying. Family isn`t much a good help:
    Just yelling at me. My exams were postponed. I write them in 2 months and I dont know what to learn!
    Any tips?

    thanks for your honesty, i always like when brothers talk openly with their experience. lot´s of things to debunk here. first, i don´t think that you have relapsed. you edged at most, you inversed rewiring of your brain, but you didn´t relapsed. it was a slip at most. so if you considered countinuing your counter i think it´s the best choice and the most fair.

    second, your aproach on "anger" was a little radical to me, and i was a bit ceptical about that to tell the truth. but still you manage almost 3 months with it, so it works!! maybe not enough for a continous streak, but it has value.

    motivation is important to keep the streak going, but only the right motivation. in my experience and in literature when we rely on reasons like "i´m on nofap to become atractive" or "i´m on nofap because that will gave me superpowers" that reasons won´t go far and we´re heading for a downfall. why? because those reasons don´t tackle the subject in depth. the best motivation is to see pmo by itself as a destructive behaviour. like a shot of cocaine.

    if we talked with a cocaine addict and said:

    - Why do you that? that behaviour is destroying your life.
    - Because it makes me feel high.
    - What´s the point of getting high if your gonna get really low after?

    when pmo is clearly seen to be destructive, after that all that matters is to find a way to unsinstall the loads of sexual material that we have in our heads. because we are porn addicts. we don´t have a neutral point of view the same way a cocaine addict doesn´t have a neutral point of view towards cocaine.

    so to uninstall the obsession, that´s when systems comes in. i think you´re doing fine, and your reasons seems right. but i think is better to tackle the specific moment when you edged. you know the slip didn´t begin there, it probably begin some time ago. you have to find when you start feeling hesitant? when you start feeling your determination was not as strong as before? when you let go of some of the good habits that were keeping porn away?

    those questions are key aspects here, and the answers to it will provide the right adjustment to your system.

    well, maybe boosting the reboot can help.

    -meditate
    -try having a fixed schedule to sleep and wake up.
    -do workouts
    -take cold showers
    - try to gain the habit of reading (that´s great to calm the body and develop concentration).
    - work on your career but also enjoy your free time with hobbies.

  5. Day 1: Even though I’m working from home, I’m going to still cut my phone usage down. Mindless surfing on it has been what leads to relapse. It’s really been the only trigger I’ve had lately. Time to cut it out as much as possible. Does anyone know a good blocker for iPhone? Until I’m no longer easily triggered, I’m going to need one as a defense of sorts. The one I’ve been using has been failing me pretty hard. Half the time it doesn’t work at all.

    But it's fine. Although I was somewhat in a state of shock last night, I'm sure that I'm going to improve.

    I bet you're right on the slip part.
    Also, feeling hesitant, I don't really have a time when I'm hesitant, except when I check to see if I accidentally relapsed.
    Over the course of my 84 day streak, I found that my determination decreased, yet I was able to pursue for a long time.
    Good habits... hmmm... Yeah I didn't really have many resources to help me out, just willpower and hatred (which revolved around me not being able to socialize easily). It's still what I am going to rely on. The only thing new (which I like to call an anchor) would be using distractions if the willpower and hatred is gone.

    If you have any resources (not websites, blockers, apps, etc.) that help you out, please tell me. I would really like to know what you use to beat this addiction.



    I can't be mad anymore about what I have done. If I continue to be mad, I'll continue to relapse.

    I may have "transformed" back into an Orc, but that means nothing to me. The only thing that it means to me is that I'm very low on the "pmo charts" and I need to rise! So let's get after it brothers!!

    @CLaYFiRC have you tried greyscale? (it's not an app), you go on your phones settings (google it and it will teach you how to get to the specific place), and all it does is to turn your phone black and white. It really lowers the visual stimulation you get from your phone, so you naturally feel like putting it down as it doesn't have all those bright colors that appeal to you.

  10. I’m going to look into that! I also changed the DNS settings on my phone, so all adult content is blocked no matter what browser I’m in. With the quarantine and working from home, I’m on my phone too much. My phone was never a trigger before, but it’s now my biggest one. I relapsed again because I was bored and on it again. Need to really distance myself from it and get back on track.

    Brother, be aware of reducing accountability. Staying away from the forum for many days can reduce your awareness of the addiction. Be careful.

    no, sorry, i just read your post here. yes, so that´s a relapse, but still only a minor one, a slip at most. considering that you´ve been clean for almost 3 months, you pmo 2 times, that´s not that bad and your brain as not suffered much damage - if the leak stops now of course, since we know that is hard to get back on track once we´ve fallen out of the wagon - but i hope it will stop now.

    well, you said that your determination has decreasead over time, that´s the big issue here. it´s got to be the opposite way, the more we stay away from pmo the more our determination to keep away from pmo should be. in fact, happiness in life is the best predictor if we´re going to stay in sobriety or go back to the "old" ways.

    good life, better life = staying with it
    bad life, equal life as before = back to the addiction

    there are a lot of things that keeps the streak together, and ultimately turns the streak into a lifestyle. and this needs the creation of a better life and better habits. willpower is only a mere fraction of the all work, willpower alone cannot stand the streak together in the long run, and it´s amazing how far you gone with just it and hatred :). but you need new habits and skills, it´s crucial.
