I know this is old, but I want to respond because I have a different take than most I hear, and I wish someone would have told me this a long time ago. The idea of a sould mate for one doesnt work out mathematically because there are a lot more women on earth than men (or vice versa, done remember) and what this amounts to is some are just destined to be alone if this were true. The idea of a sould mate primarily comes from Disney and Romcoms (similar to trashy romance novels which are to a point the female equivalent of porn or porn for emotions). To me the idea of a soul mate puts so much pressure on people when meeting someone, can encourage approaches anxiety, neediness, false hope in what amounts to a superstition with ZERO evidence, and sticking around in an abusive relationship with ones "soul mate" ignoring obvious red flags that say it is time to leave and has been for a long time. I prefer the concept of the 300, there are around 300 women out of all the billions on the planet that I could be perfectly happy with, just take my pick of one to marry. The idea of a soup mate is a beautiful and seductive delusion that has done almost as much harm to people as porn...
