Hi there, I’ve been trying to stop masturbation for good, but failed miserably everytime. Especially when I feel stress & down my natural respond is to masturbate to “feel good” . Any advice as to how to stop it cus it’s been disrupting my daily life and study timetable. I really need to stop this and focus entirely on my study and life goal. Pls advice :)

We are glad you openly talked about it. Your brain has wired itself towards escapism, to rewire it you should take a challenge. Hope you unlock all ur superpowers. Best wishes.

You did the first step, which is becoming aware of the addiction, good job.
I can recommend to read the information about the nofap-challenge.
After that you could try reading in the success stories section to be inspired by the things the other guys did.
Take your time, educate yourself by reading in this forum and "get to know your enemy".
The strongest, but also most difficult tool is abstaining. Key to this is finding activities to do instead of masturbation. Because we humans are not good in "not doing things". It's easier to do something else instead like working out, going for a walk or practicing a new skill ;)

    Hello.
I recommend you trying some meditation, it can really release the tension related with masturbation, also maybe some basic workut excerises, like pushups. Cold showers are also known from urge killing. You will get rid of your urges and fill yourself with motivation and extra energy to studying. When I get out from shower I feel like a beast. Try this.

  6. Hey, welcome to the NoFap community
    : )
It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!
First let me go ahead and drop some helpful links for you:

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a careful look at each section in the forum, there may be something(s) you will find to be of big help to you.
Secondly I advise you to be active on your profile(as there a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then begin posting frequent status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement.
The forum has got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see.
People will find your profile and give you support.

There’s a portion of people who love communicating in the profile section..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive conversations. It would be great to have you join in and become part of the team!
We support others in the threads, profile posts, and journals/reboot logs.
Once you receive some support, please be sure and be grateful to the member for the help/support you received and consider giving some in return to anyone you wish.

Thirdly, you should highly consider creating a public journal/reboot log (in the appropriate section for you) to write about your days in depth for us members to follow along on your journey and offer support to you on.

Please start your journal in the correct section and with that, also try your best to post in the correct sections as it is mandatory and would be helpful to the mods who organize the forum. : )

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!

    Hi, welcome to the community

I would recommend you to stay in touch with members and read their success stories. You may also learn tricks to avoid the short-term pleasure and to face the temptations.

Be AWARE of your habits and control what you see and what/who you spend your time with.

It's also important to limit the usage of social media. In addition, never be free! Use your free time as much as possible and do sports, exercise, attend classes, etc.

This video contains everything that you need to know about porn addiction. Lastly, here is a collection of ways to deal with the urges which worked great for me.

֍ You got this my friend ֍

Ty for your advice! That’s what my condition really is, escapism! V interesting didn’t know taking up a challenge could help to rewire the brain, definitely gonna try it! I’m thinking of something that requires little or no physical energy so I can do it even when i’m tired but still feeling the urge xd

Ty for ur advice! Yes it’s so hard to practice abstaining, especially during this period of lockdown. :( But hey probably could use that as a motivation :)

Stick post this on your desk top. It is an excellent mantra. Key word in all of that is FOCUS.

I started my journey about 2 weeks back. What was the first thing I did? I researched porn addiction and tried to learn as much as I could on why this has happened and what is it doing. A GREAT first step is Gary Wilson's "Your Brain on Porn". It's on YouTube. It explains everything you need to know in regards to the science of the addiction. You don't have to become a scientist to understand the addiction; just a little about WHY the brain allowed the addiction to take hold, and what happens when you don't address the problem.

You have already identified your weak moments, and that's good. It's knowledge. It's about being prepared. We are MUCH more able to fight addiction when we are armed with knowledge and PREPARED.

This is a lifestyle change, and I believe you have to look at it as that. It takes work. And you have to stay focused. Have a plan - use that plan to prepare - stay focused even through bad times - and BELIEVE. We tend to dismiss BELIEF. I don't know why. It may be because we can't see or touch BELIEF. It's in the head, so we can't really say if it's real or not. But it is. It's about conditioning yourself to have confidence in your journey. All great victories come from a BELIEF. And a plan. And confidence in that plan. That's your BELIEF right there.

Train yourself to have it always. ALWAYS. It's not JUST about addiction. Everything you do and succeed in grows from believing. If you go into this battle thinking, "I dunno if I can do this..." you're already killing yourself. You go into this with focus and a belief in your plan. You ALWAYS have hope. They all work hand-in-hand.

And if you stumble and fall, you get back up, stay focused, and keep going. People who succeed ALWAYS keep going.

Brother, first you have to see the cycle.

You feel stressed. You proceed to masturbate. Then, you mostly feel worthless. Since you have drained off your most precious energy, you aren't surely able to work off on the issues that are making you stressed in the first place. You then feel stressed again. And the whole cycle continues. This is a vicious cycle and would continue for years if you don't address the root issue.

What's making you stressed in the first place? Is that really some stress or some responsibility you are trying to avoid? Aren't you capable of solving them? What's stopping you from addressing those issues?

And how long does that feeling last? Do you really enjoy the feeling or the process?

Don't put your complete focus on " TRYING TO STOP MASTURBATION!"

It's like thinking about sleep before bedtime. The harder you think, the harder it becomes to go to sleep.

Focus on addressing the root issues that are making you seek pleasure. Focus on finding activities that you can spend time in. Focus on the cleansing of your old sexual impressions by rewiring your thoughts.

I wish you all the best.
