Those who successfully toppled pmo addiction

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Apr 21, 2020.

  1. Are you more present with daily life , because your not constantly on a dopamine high .

Do you find your thoughts have become more disciplined and productive

And I can only imagine that you never feel any sense of disgust anymore ,

    Just focused and content

Can you elaborate on how NoFap benefits you .

For me, it was more than just NoFap, or a 90 day reboot. Recovery is like peeling an onion. The more you peel , the more onions layers you didn't even realize were there before. So you keep digging.
For me I joined SAA, I started talking to a physcologist, I went into rehab, started working the 12 steps. You read about porn addiction, buy books.
Then for me when I stopped PMO I started to learn. Why I did it in the first place. You realize you may of had family trauma. And you work on that. You learn how to start be aware, and manage your emotions. You also start to realize that there are things that trigger you that you didn't even know did before. For me , I'm over a year of no porn whatsoever, no masterbation , and only orgasm with my partner ( which wasn't often ) and what my worst thing I need to nip in the but now isn't watching porn , or seeing escorts.... It's looking at a picture or thumbnail of a show as I scroll on Netflix.
What I'm trying to say is you have to be strong and focused each and every day to keep progressing.
The biggest positives I feel is how I view myself. How I can say I'm honest , and actually mean it without that little voice saying no you're not. The feeling of having nothing to hide is amazing. I would say my mind is more disciplines as well. But I would say my mind is more aware of when I need to be more careful. Hungry, angry, lonely, tired you gotta be aware .

I have not toppled my addiction but I have not had to use any form of pornography, sex with self or partners other than the spouse for seven years (2599 onsecutive daysand nights)

I do notice more presence, although for me I get what I think is a dopamine hit every time I see someone I'm attracted to which is quite often I call that trigger if it's passive. There's a way to be kept sober, to give up what it feels like would kill me not to have. But that wasn't your question, the reason I bring it up is because I seem to be more present not because of never having dopamine hits I think it's because of practicing simply being present. Nothing special, no super Saiyan powers just plain old noticing.

I don't think thoughts ever get more disciplined but now I less and less believe them. Quicker and more easily I see them as simply thoughts no n need to have any particular relation to them (of course fear anger pride can very quickly change that story :) I'm not floating off the Earth anytime soon, we all know how feelings like anger can grab us by the hair). Intuition gets clearer.

I feel a lot less disgust but it's a process, thank goodness cause what did I want when I was in active addiction was more more more so now I get more more opportunities to practice recommit and grow towards ideals. I felt some disgust at myself earlier today, then went through some processes that I've found help allow that unhappy state to pass through like a train through a station.

The benefits in my case are not sexy but they are priceless.

May we all have all the things that are good for us and live into our destiny right now
