Is this a “normal” effect of porn addiction or more likely something within myself?

I’ve been addicted to PMO for a very long time (15+ years, 2-3+ times per day) and have recently started my first attempts at NoFap with lots of struggles.

Within the past few years of continued porn addiction I’ve noticed that more and more often, even though I can get aroused to watching porn and be very erect, it seems the moment I start to imagine myself having sex (with the girl in the video or even in general) I just completely lose it and go limp. Even if I see a very attractive woman on tv or even real life that I would normally have been attracted to, the thought of myself being involved with her does nothing for me anymore, but I think if the same woman was in a porn, I could get aroused to it. Of course this also carries over to my real life relationships as PIED.​

Is this something that is common with porn addiction and if so is it something that can get better by sticking to NoFap or does this seem like something I should seek specific professional help for?

 

I’m sorry that you’re dealing (dealt?) with this same issue, I know how frustrating it is. But at the same time I’m comforted that I’m not alone in this. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the response man, definitely a struggle to even get past the first week, can’t even imagine how I’ll feel at 90 days lol
